I went to nursery with a Gaia in Italy. 'Gaia' is mother earth in Italian mythology.

There was a little Clementine at the park recently, lovely name.

DS has a little kindergarten friend called Jacoby. I think the name is Hebrew, I think it's slightly nicer than the usual Jacob.

Gaia (Guy-a) is “Mother Earth” in pre-Christian/pagan mythology, and popularised in the 1980s by James Lovelock’s Gaia theory of the evolution of the Earth. It is quite well used in hippy/pagan cultures. I know about 3. Emma Thompson has a daughter called Gaia.

I’ve met a Comfort. He was Nigerian, where I understand that virtue names are commonly used.

I went to school with a boy called Eliezer, a bible name. Loved that babe, have never come across it since I left school in 1989!

I've also met a Maverick. I think it's possibly the most "my child is more special than yours" name ever (and as a PP said, a lot to live up to).

Unusual names that I like however... Oakley. And Eartha. Though apparently it's rhyming slang for shit.
