The National Lottery, Stonewall and Gay Conversion Therapy

The National Lottery have give half a million pounds of funding to Stonewall to fund trans leaders in "influencing" the public. One of these is Morgan Page a transwoman (ie a male who identifies as being a woman) who has run workshops advising other male people who identify as lesbians on "overcoming the cotton ceiling":

The "cotton ceiling" represents the barrier of lesbians' underwear (because lesbians won't have sex with them due to them being male penis-havers). A number of transactivists campaign against this, calling lesbians bigoted and "vagina fetishists" for not being willing to have sex with them and this individual ran workshops to help other male individuals to "identify the barriers and strategise ways to overcome them":

How is training males on how to overcome women's boundaries and pressure lesbians to have sex with penises not a) rapey as hell and b) gay conversion therapy by another name?

Why the hell are the National Lottery and Stonewall funding this individual?

Yanbu op. Stonewall used to be such an institution but they were starting to lack purpose as the gay rights movement had been so successful. Instead of turning their efforts to helping gay people internationally where gay rights are abysmal they took the easy money and have totally betrayed their roots. There was a petition against their seeming abandonment of gay rights. So so sad.

How do we complain?

Write to the national lottery and the charities commission. Also write to the funders of these charities pointing out that they need to look a bit closer at what it is that they are funding.

According to the article, they shouldn't be funding political lobbying but I'm trying to find their exact criteria as I would hope there are criteria related to not funding work which discriminates against particular groups (e.g. lesbians).

I don't know if Morgan is planning to continue with that particular strand of their campaigning/influencing work with this money but I would hope that the National Lottery would take seriously the concerns about funding such an individual especially as the terms of what the grant can be used for seem so broad.

It would be a credible EA discrimination claim on the grounds of sex and sexual orientation.

What? Had to read that a couple of times. Wrecked my head. So transwomen are trying to force lesbians to have sex with them, despite having penises? I'm not sure that's going to work....

cousineddie · 29/12/2018 01:56

I saw similar on a Facebook group I’m on earlier - that a lass said she didn’t want to have sex with someone with a penis (identifying as a lesbian) ... post was deleted as it’s discriminatory against a minority group . I’m a recently out lesbian and was using tinder to try and chat a bit - overwhelmed with the number of users who identify as trans or non binary and yet are clearly men. It’s the same with any lesbian group I’ve looked into joining in r/l ie not online - they all welcome trans and non binary women . I know others are facing difficulties and discrimination but I don’t feel attracted at all to the idea of a ‘woman’ with a penis - I don’t think that’s transphobia or discriminatory . Just as I don’t feel attracted to men .

Yeah, maybe I just need to write that. There doesn't seem to be a formal process for members of the public to object to grants anyway so I guess I'll just write and express my concerns.

Yeah, that's why I'm not using dating apps. There always were male people on lesbian online dating websites trying to persuade lesbians to engage in sexual conversations with them etc by pretending to be lesbians but they knew they couldn't take it into the real world and lesbians could clearly state that we weren't interested in males. Now I wouldn't even dare put on a dating profile that I am only interested in actual females as it would make me a target. Sad

Forgive me for not reading the Express, why is Challenor Jr. and David Davis in the URL?

TheLWordNotTheQWord · 29/12/2018 14:34

She is also joined by former Green Party member Aimee Challenor, who resigned after using her father as an election agent despite him having been charged with imprisoning, raping and torturing a 10-year-old child in the attic of the home they shared.

Conservative MP David Davies insisted that although nobody objects to LGBT services receiving grants, his issue lies with donation's being given for influencing. He said: “Nobody objects to grants designed to provide services to LGBT people. “But my concern with grants explicitly described as being for ‘influencing’ is that the Lottery is taking a clear position at one extreme of what of what is a highly contested political debate.”

Aimee Challenor is also on Stonewall's trans advisory committee and is benefiting from this funding. 'David Davis' is a very common error - the MP David TC Davies is quoted in the piece:

Just to be clear, I also have grave concerns about Stonewall's ongoing relationship with Aimee Challenor* but was already aware of that.

*not because I hold them responsible for what their father did but because they continued to use him as their election agent despite the horrific offences he had been charged with and because of the influence I think Challenor Senior may have had over them and the policies they were trying to influence.
