Ok this thread may commence from midnight in honour of Fellatio. I sadly abandoned last years mid run due to pre-eclampsia and early birth of my December baby and therefore fully intend to throw myself fully into this years festivities:

"OK, first of all, I know it's still September by we need to start this thread now because as you all know, having a truly Poncetastic Christmas involves precision planning, strategy, bravery, heroics, and frequently martyrdom. A bit like the war in Afghanistan, only with nicer food and sparkly shoes.

So, if you, like me, actually want to make the next twelve weeks of your life a misery by hand-crafting your cards, finding a huge bucket for Nigella's turkey in brine, pickling pears, shrivelling oranges in a low oven for those rustic au naturel decorations, dragging half a holly bush back from the woods, and just generally being a smug annoying jobsworth ponce, join me on this thread.

Feel free to post photos of previous tree-trimming, cake icing or table centrepiece triumphs, discuss this year's bauble colour themes, debate the merits of Delia versus Gordon, road-test a selection of canapes and cocktails, (all in the line of duty) and link to lovely inspirational photos/craft ideas for a truly Poncetastic Christmas.

Warning: If your idea of a good Christmas involves Pizza, ITV, gravy granules or anything with 'Aunt Bessies' on the packet, this is not the thread for you".

Let's surpass all poncestastic pasts please

YAY!

Ponce me in!

I have already started on a few bits. I'm hoping to get some blankets made soonish and send to rellies in Australia! Will try and find a link...

My aim for decorating ponce is:
New wreath
Christmas chair-back decorations (mini poinsettia wreaths or tartan ribbon or some such thing! I have yet to really 'plan' what they will be).
Napkin rings.
Various baubles.

And a variety of baubles and other waffley bits for me and as gifts.

We aren't in the UK, so food and Christmas tv will be very different!

Let the ponce begin Xmas Grin

Fabulous.... I've been waiting for this thread to start! I made some red onion marmalade for a dinner for friends last week and it was delicious so am thinking of making some to give as presents. It is supposed to taste even better after a month (rather than just overnight!)

I'm also planning to organise a Christmas wreath making evening at the village hall.... I made my own wreath last year and loved it and decided to always have making my own as part of Christmas!

Here are the blankets. But I can't sew for toffee, so they'll be fleece!

Have Bern waiting for the poncetastic thread, Christmas is really on the way now! Have no idea what to make this year, but both children are in school now, so time is no excuse... I'm off to hobby craft site...

Oh dear. I always want to be poncey but I'm not crafty, work full time and generally can't be arsed.
I might do bramble vodka and I always make a Christmas cake, but that's about my limit. Love the threads though

I might have a chance this year. Not pregnant. Baby is over a year.

Right. Forced bulbs. Tell me how.

Am also going to light my fire this year. Need to prep for that.

I need to buy the kids their Christmas baubles (am buying them one each every year and then they can have them when they move out).

Need to do Christmas cake. Have mincemeat from 2 years ago which is still all good. But I am replacing my fridge freezer in 2 weeks so can't start filli g it up yet.

I'm not so into the crafts side of life (3 under 4 means there is no point).

Yay!

Ah. All is well with the world. The Poncetastic thread is open! Well done WaitingforEgg and congratulations on your baby!

I dint think I will be very Poncetastic at all this year but I will live vicariously through you lot.

I'm not even making a cake this year and it will be just DH, DS and I for Xmas I think and then we are going away in 28th for a week. So I will just decorate my house in a Poncetastic fashion albeit all bought rather than hand crafted.

Happy Poncing everyone!

Hello thread Grin
About to move house so preparations have to wait.

I am planning a Make a wreath evening at mine with some fizz and mulled stuff. What would I need to buy? Anyone got a link to a guide to wreath making that works? Asking people to bring some greenery.

Excited

Yay this thread marks the start of the festive season to me! I usually get too busy to do as much as I'd like but have made some changes this year so I'll have some more time. We're away for a week before Christmas (fly back in on 23rd!) so I need to be super organised this year.

I've just been paid so I'm planning to start shopping from now.

Oh I so want to join in... But I have a 3 year old, 6 week old and no money!

I'm planning to make a stocking for the baby, though. And I love the idea of making a wreath! Perhaps I could have a little go...
