Online yoga? Bit bored with Adriene

I feel really bad writing that! I love her, but I’m finding the sessions a bit slow and easy. I’d like to have to take my jumper off and be a bit stiff the next day like I get from my RL class.
Any thoughts? Maybe I’m just not trying hard enough. Grin

Yoga with Kassandra.

I spent months doing yoga with Adriene but her waffle really started to annoy me. Someone suggested Kassandra and my strength and flexibility improved in just a couple of weeks under her direction. She has everything from quick 10 minute morning stretches to full hour sessions. I tend to avoid the Yin yoga sessions as I want more of a work out but she is brilliant.

She has made me find muscles I didn’t know I had. My thighs are still sore from yesterday’s session!

Yorkshirelass04 · 02/05/2021 10:24

Boho beautiful! They also have their own app for a tailored approach

LagganBubble · 02/05/2021 10:25

I follow pilates & yoga with Kait Coats. She has a range of classes, with some yoga, some pilates & some a fusion of the two. She explains all the moves really clearly and there's a distinct lack of waffle!

ArtfulPuss · 02/05/2021 10:29

I will always have a fondness for Adriene but got to the point after doing a couple of her 30-day programmes back-to-back last year where I was bored and not getting enough out of it physically. Moved on to Cat Meffan, and find that her style is a much better 'fit' for me – I like the pace, the variety and the fact that it really gives me something to aim for. Find that she has a similarly relatable and self-deprecating manner to Adriene, but there's a lot less waffle and more of a flow. (Also like that she uses the Sanskrit words for the poses.)

Thanks so much everyone! I’ll have a look at these.

I like the waffle Blush but would rather that we were doing something a bit more hard work while she was chatting.

Another vote for Kassandra if you want to step it up a notch. Or Lesley Fightmaster.

DIMAN007 · 23/05/2021 06:06

Maybe it's not for you? You can try go to gym.

coconutmonkey · 07/06/2021 18:06

I really like Boho Beautiful Yoga too. I find them a great alternative to Adrienne, if not a bit too beautiful and aspirational, but the yoga is great.

Superfoodie123 · 09/06/2021 08:57

If you really want to sweat try alo yoga on YouTube

BunnyRuddington · 09/06/2021 18:04

Another vote fir Fightmaster. Her lessons are free on YouTube.

Sadly though there won't be any new ones as she died last year, but there is plenty of courses and lessons to choose from.

Brekke · 09/06/2021 18:08

Livinleggings is really good and has a mix of easy and harder classes

BakedBeeeen · 09/06/2021 18:13

I tried alo yoga with Briohny smyth. She is great - But they are pretty hard! I need something half way in between Briohny and Adrienne!

wanderlove · 09/06/2021 18:36

I also really rate boho beautiful. Such a mix of relaxing and really hard so you can pick what suits you. I actually like the beautiful natural backdrops too and despite looking like a model she has a lot of depth to her practise and insights too.

supercalifragilistic123 · 09/06/2021 18:45

I love Hannah Barrett, she does really strong firey flows, and has a strong physio and pilates influence so lots of strengthening drills, and less flexibility that some other teachers.
After 6 months of her app I can do poses I've never been able to do before... hello 8 angle and flying pigeon!
I also like Cat Meffan.

Hello @4PawsGood I've just started a thread asking (hopefully!) if anyone wants to try the asana rebel 21 day challenge. Would that work?

I love Adrienne but feel I need something a bit tougher to compensate for not going to classes.

khaleesi71 · 28/06/2021 08:31

I use the Down Dog app - it's great and use it daily. You can chose your sessions (flow, Hatha, Ashtanga), level of difficulty, amount of instruction and type of music - you can also chose how long you want to practice for. It's paid but the choice and quality is brilliant. I like Adrienne but never find them challenging and have now done a few face to face classes (I thought I might be doing things incorrectly during lockdown) and I've more than held my own in advance classes. I also have abs and well defined shoulders (just about 50 btw)!

Heyyeahyouwiththesadface · 01/07/2021 18:25

I did not like Cat Meffan, so much jabbering!

Hannah Barratt -omg, I am weaker than I thought! I will have to build up a bit more.

I am sticking to kassandra but will also give a few others that have been suggested a try.

Tara Stiles
www.youtube.com/c/TaraStilesStralaYoga/playlists
I have been doing her videos since 2011 or somewhere like that. I also lift weight and Tara Stiles' routines make sure I stay very flexible and elongated.

seriously. I find Adriene totally uninspiring

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/07/2021 21:35

I've recently discovered Arianne Elizabeth. Very good flows and her voice is soooo soothing.

MyHairNeedsASnip · 07/07/2021 21:37

I'm going to try some of these myself. I'm as stiff as a board and I fancy yoga, but every time I've tried I've lost interest after a few minutes

Spudlet · 07/07/2021 21:38

Try Five Parks yoga. I tried some of her stuff when I was practicing every day and I still nearly fell over in a heap Grin

Cheesybiscuitsmineallmine · 07/07/2021 21:43

Also been thinking the same (sorry, Adrienne, I will always love you) so thank you for the recommendations!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/07/2021 21:53

Spud i read your post too quickly and was curious as to how sweary SouthPark yoga was Grin
