I read somewhere that apparently it's better to either arrive within a few hours of playing (and have no acclimation) or be there for 10 days before playing (to acclimatise) if altitude is a factor.

Actually according to Reddit comments the English are the better team with better players than Mexico. Mexico are better equipped to play in high altitude and their fans are apparently making lots of noise outside the England team hotel the night before the match.
