I am seriously old and recall '66 in which England were dire in the early stages, didn't seem to come alive until the quarters.
They've only ever come from behind to win a knockout match in the WC once before, that was in '66!
They beat Croatia 4-2, last time they did that was in the '66 final!
Just trying to cheer people up with useless omens though even if I had a ticket I wouldn't be going to Mexico City , 4 have been killed in the huge crowds and that was when they won! Not a good place to be at the moment.

It's tomorrow and I'll be travelling so will unfortunately miss the match.

Cabo Verde knocking Argentina out would be glorious. Statistically highly unlikely but you never know with football!

It really is a pain. I'm in Spain now and with the extra hour even the 'earlier' matches are borderline too late for me. Of course here people think nothing of heading out for dinner at 10 in the evening but I'm safely tucked up in bed by then!

On Sunday night/Monday morning can you please sleep in the garden?!?!

The radio said pubs will be allowed to stay open until 5am Monday morning - good lord! That’s daylight again - is this that far from giving an emergency bank holiday?

School had said

Kane is up there with top goal scorers in WCs. What will we do when he retires?! shock horror. Gordon did well setting up his second goal and praised Kane in bbc round up. As he should do. Is Gordon a rated player? All I can see is he’s 25, has a kid, plays for a Spanish team but used to play for Everton.

The Mexicans will be a hard match. They shouldn’t be but will be especially as it’s on home soil for them. They’ll all be singing La Cucharacha! We will be hoping the Spanish are not like Speedy Gonzales and more like Slowpike Rodriguez (the slowest mouse in Mexico).

I start work at 1pm but had planned to go to the gym Monday morning. Somehow I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

Anthony Gordon played for Newcastle since 2023. I don't have a lot of time for him because of the way he left Everton but he is a decent player, bit inconsistent.
