Calculate term time pay, for P/T job in school (non-teaching)

Hi,

I've an interview for a payroll assistant in a school. Its 20 hours a week term time only, spread over 4 days.

Can anyone please advise how they will calculate the gross pay?

Hi,
I work 18.5 hrs per week, term time only.
Basically if the full time pay was, say £20,000 then:

£20,000 / 52 = £384.62

£384.62 * 36 = £13846.32 (36 weeks - term time)

£13846.32 / 39 = £335.03 (39 hrs average full time week?)

£335.03 * 20 = £7100.67 (your hours)

So your annual pay would be £7100.67, monthly gross would be £591.72.

You need to add in your paid holidays too. I work term time (I thought that was 39 weeks?) plus get 5ish weeks paid holiday.

how is the salary presented ? If it is to be pro rated it would be multiplied by 39/52 (for term time weeks) x 20/35 ( for hours). Sometimes the total is payable evenly over 12 months rather than just over termtime.

Back in the day, when I used to calculate LEA pay entitlement (pre-dc), the formula was:

Number of hours worked/37 (full time hours)

multiplied by

Number of weeks per year worked (including holiday entitlement - usually came out as 42/ 52.14 (weeks in a year)

multiplied by

Full time salary

But since then lots of schools have taken on their own or non-LEA payroll services, and don't have to use those figures.

It shows a salary range and pro rata in brackets, no indication of how they work it. Not as much as 20K unfortunately.

I want to find a 'school hours job', for a part/nearly qualified accountant. so far nothing. any suggestions ? sorry, didn't mean to hijack.

btw my 20 hour a week termtime equates to about half the ft salary for the post if that is any help and am paid evenly over 12 months

Depends where you live. 20k is below average for a good payroll, round here.

I am also paid evenly over 12 months - the 20k was just a figure I plucked out of thin air so I could show the calculation

In our borough the 'full time' week is 37 hours, and we are paid for 42.26 weeks, spread over 12 months.

Oblomov, I've had a couple of interviews for a finance manager, and each time lost out to an accountant! The one I applied for was in the local paper, but generally most of the school jobs are on www.epm.co.uk. I think if you go there, it shows cambs, but there is an option to click on other counties too.

I have been offered a job working in a school but only term time 35 weeks and 3 days plus 4 weeks holiday adding up to 39 weeks and 3 days and they are willing to spread my wage of 6.50 an hour all year through but I can not seem to find out how much that works out a week I would be paid any help here

oblomov I would look on your local council's website as well, most have a website or section for teaching and non teaching jobs.

I work term time in an office and its calculated like this:

£13.33 per hour x 20 hours per week x 39 weeks per year divided by 12 months - so I get 12 monthly payments of £866.45. As its only term time I don't get any holiday entitlement and have to make up missed hours.

Can anyone help me please i have applied for a job in a school and would like to know what my pay would work out at each month as its term time and worked out on an average so i would get paid in the school holidays. The info is Salary/Grade C SCP 11-14 £8.0377 - £8.5425 per hour 28 hours 45mins per week can anyone help plz

It's £12.174 for 30 hours for 38.6 weeks a year.
