Maternity pay calculation

Last time I went on maternity leave I was very lucky in that I had been paid a bonus in the 8 week period that SMP is worked out on so my SMP payment included a bonus. This time I have some shares I have been awarded in my company which are up to me when I exercise - if I exercise them during the 8 week period that SMP is work out will my SMP payment include this? Any insights appreciated. Thanks

Er, off the top of my head yes, I think so. I've had this come up and tax people I know did a very complicated review of the legislation and I think that they concluded that it did.

Sorry not to be more definitive.

Not sure, it may be classified as a different source of income to "pay". Do they normally pay out the scheme through the wage packet ?

Is this helpful? Seems to be anything that is NI-able. Will this be NI-able?

[clueless, leaves it to payroll emoticon]

Ah yes, NICs. That's why tax understood it and I didn't....
