i don't know but i use times new roman for everything

RachePache · 25/01/2009 17:19

A simple font, but not Times New Roman (= lack of imagination in my book)

Mine's in Arial. Also like Verdana for a serif font.

southeastastra · 25/01/2009 17:19

:P

DragonLowFatSpread · 25/01/2009 17:20

Verdana looks nice but i wondered if it was a bit boring.

I like Tahoma

SlightlyMadScotland · 25/01/2009 17:22

It should be a formal font.

Times New Roman (but I don't like this)
Arial
Helvetica (virtually identical to Arial)

RachePache · 25/01/2009 17:22

Oops, I mean Garamond for a serif font, rather than Verdana (although Verdana is nice, I prefer Arial, which is more like Helvetica)

DragonLowFatSpread · 25/01/2009 17:25

ok, arial it is.
thanks

pavlovthecat · 25/01/2009 17:26

Verdana.

DragonLowFatSpread · 25/01/2009 17:36

don't say that, i've attempted an executive decision here.

verdana

ProfRichardDawkins · 25/01/2009 20:20

Times New Roman - A CV should be concise and easy to read. LOL at the idea that the font should be imginative.

morningpaper · 25/01/2009 20:21

Times new roman is old school

fine if you are over 60 and applying to be a voluntary Treasurer

otherwise no no no

ProfRichardDawkins · 25/01/2009 20:30

Morningpaper I always use Times New Roman in a 12 pitch and have never ever applied for a job that I didn't get.

southeastastra · 25/01/2009 20:33

times new romand just looks nice. what's this font btw?

pgwithnumber3 · 25/01/2009 20:34

I use Arial too!

LadyPinkofPinkerton · 25/01/2009 20:36

I like Bookman Old Style, similar to TNR, but at least its a little different and makes your CV look a little different

tiggerlovestobounce · 25/01/2009 20:40

I use arial. I dont like times new roman either.

southeastastra · 25/01/2009 20:46

lol you lot obviously don't remember when we had to change daisy wheel to get another font

pgwithnumber3 · 25/01/2009 20:54

I do astra!

ProfRichardDawkins · 25/01/2009 20:58

I've just asked DP about this and he says Times New Roman is for old farts. He says for the last 5 years he has been using Arial because TNR conveys the wrong message.

RachePache · 25/01/2009 20:59

ProfRichardDawkins - I didn't mean that a CV should be imaginative as in "I'm so wacky and cre8ive, look at the cool font I've used"; more in the sense that when I see a CV typed in TNR I tend to think that the candidate hasn't really thought much about how the CV might come across visually. I think sans serif fonts look much better: crisper, clearer, more professional.(Declared interest: I'm a very visual person, and when I've interviewed I get quite annoyed by CVs if the margins don't line up or a section runs over onto the next page. Don't know why.)
