Was this an unreasonable request at work?

At work, in our office, we have been without a cleaner for a few days. She was due to come back today (she did turn up later), but in the meantime, four bins in our office were overflowing with rubbish. A male worker in the office, who isn't my boss, somehow managed to obtain a big bin liner and said to me, "Gis a bit of help with the rubbish will you"? I said I wasn't touching it, in which he replied, "But it's your rubbish too. Don't you do the rubbish at home"? I replied that of course I do, but I'm not at home now, plus I don't get paid any extra for doing that here".
It was him who wanted to rubbish bins collected in the first place. They weren't smelling and I was happy to wait for our cleaner (who turned up anyway).

I forgot to say, later, this same guy, threw a rolled up golf ball sized foil ball at my other coworker. It hit the wall, bounced and landed on my keyboard. He said sorry to me and came over to pick it up, but he didn't apologise to my coworker, the intended target 🙄

Did it hit your coworker? If not then I don't think he needed to apologise to them. To be honest OP it now just sounds like you are reaching for anything that you can say about this bloke to excuse you being unreasonable about the bins

Well presumably he didn’t say sorry to your coworker because they were fooling around. However he did say sorry to you because you weren’t part of their little game and were affected by it.

You really don’t like him do you?

I run my own company and employ people to clean the building and take the bins out. Occasionally the cleaner has t been able to attend for whatever reason ( recently it was because both individuals assigned to us had a clash of holiday).
It happens. It's no big deal. We do the cleaning ourselves. I would never expect a staff member to do something I wasn't prepared to do myself.
We all help out. From the junior trainee, to the managers, to the owners. Teamwork

He dinna say 'do it' he said 'help me'; two hands to hold the liner open, and two hands to upturn the bins into it. So I do think you were a tad uppity. Sad world it would be, when we stick to our job description because someone might take advantage of us... if they try to, we tell them where to get off... but not in this instance.

I disagree it was an ok request.
If it was that much of an issue for him, he should have emptied the bins himself. After all, I’m sure he is doing that at home too!!

And tbh the issue I have is that he is man asking a woman to empty the bins.
Ive seen similar behaviours many times at work. Same than turning round towards the woman to prepare tea for everyone at a meeting.
Its misogynistic.

You very clearly didn't even read the opening post properly.

Jobsworth. I've mopped the floor (to prevent accudent) before now and would always collect the rubbish together to help.cleaners on last day at Xmas.
I was a middle manager.
