Those working from home

For those working from home can you tell me what you do.
I'm looking for a WFH position. I've worked in the NHS all my life but I'm looking for something else.

Do you have a university in your area? They tend to be wfh jobs or at least hybrid.

Agree with first poster, I work for a higher education institution and have not been back to the office since COVID and neither have my previous team who are based close to campus.

I do have a friend who works in another department though, and she has to come in 3 times a week. So you need to check carefully what is offered.

I work for the NHS for a charities team

EmpressaurusOfTheScathingTinsel · 31/01/2024 08:20

I work in marketing. It used to be office based pre-Covid but now we’re just in one day a week.

DinnaeFashYersel · 31/01/2024 08:21

I work for a charity.

Loads of wfh in the charity sector.

loudbatperson · 31/01/2024 08:23

Market research and insights.

Full time WFH has been forced upon me as they have closed the office to cut costs. I much prefer a hybrid so I guess I need it's time to start looking for a new position.

Financial Ombudsman Service.

Local authority. I think public sector has embraced working from home more than the private.

Personally I hate it, but the culture of working at the office seems to have pretty much disappeared from office jobs in the public sector. when I was looking for jobs they were all almost entirely at home ( one that was most in the office was one day a week, another had one in-office meeting every six weeks) or no requirement at all to go in, except for very occasional meetings. Most meetings are online.

Following with interest.
I am also NHS (corporate) and no wfh allowed in my team.

Adult care social work. I still do some home visits but mostly on the phone or teams meetings. Depends on the team you work for, but the LA has closed most of their offices now.

IWFH · 31/01/2024 08:36

IT programme manager in a government body (not civil service but similar).
Full time WFH - I just attend the odd on site workshop (maybe once a month). Travel is funded for all on site meetings.

I worked from home for at least 25 years before Covid, often negotiating that either at interview or at the end of my probationary period even when it wasn’t officially offered. Third sector and civil service mainly.

Regional or local jobs at national charities with are often WFH.

Divebar2021 · 31/01/2024 08:55

I work for the police but I’m aware it could change at any time. I did see a post advertised for a training administrator for City Police which was home based.

A family member works for the Police / CPS and is primarily WFH. I think he has to go in for a day every 2 or 3 weeks.
