For those working from home can you tell me what you do.
I'm looking for a WFH position. I've worked in the NHS all my life but I'm looking for something else.

Didn't know about that one so glad you shared !

Higher education - we should be 60% on campus but we are very flexible on that in our team.

ExpectantEs · 31/01/2024 10:24

IT Project Manager - fully remote
If I do have to go to client site, they would pay for my travel and expenses. But I have not been to a client in over a year.

massistar · 31/01/2024 11:57

I'm in IT. Technical Solution Architect. Permanently WFH apart from the odd client/team meeting.

berrysherry · 31/01/2024 11:58

I'm an illustrator.

Civil service. However this does vary from department to department.

I can choose whether to WFH or go into the office. There are no minimum number of office days, I could easily only go in once a month or even less. In reality I usually go in once or twice a week, depending on who else is going in and what my calendar looks like (little point in going in to the office to sit in Teams meetings all day).

NewYearNewNameOldMe · 31/01/2024 13:21

I work for the NHS in a back room corporate role. We are WFH with one (or more if you choose) office days, where we hot desk because we don't have enough space for us all to be in at once.

I'm freelance (publishing). Being freelance obviously has its own set of challenges as well as upsides.

Project Manager - Banking. Although it's more of a hybrid model than 100% wfh

Do you have a university in your area? They tend to be wfh jobs or at least hybrid.

Agree. I went from a clinical NHS post to teaching in an HEI.

Since Covid I only go onto campus to teach. That might be 1-2 times per week, or not at all for some weeks depending on workload/time of year etc. Some of my colleagues do go in more often, but there's absolutely no expectation and no presenteeism, thankfully.

I spoke to an old colleague from my previous HEI the other day and she said they're working the same way.

Business manager - go into the office once a month for payroll and to connect with the team.

Also work for civil service. I thought all departments had to do a minimum of 40-60% of time in the office? I feel like we're being mugged off now lol

I'm in a devolved administration.

Wadermellone · 01/02/2024 14:00

I am hybrid. But I choose as a when I go in mostly. Occasionally there will be an in person meeting I just go in for. But not often.

Head of Service Delivery

SideshowAuntSallyx · 01/02/2024 14:41

PA - do 1 day in the office most weeks, it's nice to go in and see people. We had a really good laugh yesterday which made going in really good.

New2024 · 01/02/2024 14:44

I work hybrid - visiting office twice per week. I work in acquisitions at an university academic library.

Ah I see, makes sense I guess.

BettyOBarley · 01/02/2024 14:48

Local authority (manager in an admin team)
Although we are going to be back to the office now 1 day per week.

Aroundthewaygirl · 01/02/2024 15:31

I'm in data governance, most of the jobs I've done dealing with data are usually WFH or hybrid positions. No need to go into the office really.

Market research and insights.

Full time WFH has been forced upon me as they have closed the office to cut costs. I much prefer a hybrid so I guess I need it's time to start looking for a new position.

@loudbatperson

van you recommend the company/companies that you work for, 100% from home would be perfect for me (sorry it's not for you)
