Any other quiet quitters?

Am struggling working in a toxic workplace. I've been trying and failing to get out, having applied for countless jobs in the past couple of years. But the reality is I'm burnt out. So I need to look at coping strategies and quiet quitting is one of them. Does anyone want to join me, or what to share any tips?

I'm still trying but before I had a chance it went crazy and I'm now in the process of complaining to HR. I worked until 2am and have been online all day so I guess it's going really badly!

That's horrendous and I really know what you're going through - I was doing the same with my previous toxic, bullying boss and there just weren't enough hours in the day to meet her requirements, which is why I left, only for another shitty situation :( Do you have a union to support you?

I left and this literally the best professional decision I have ever made!

I was on this thread April 23, I clung on with the job destroying me until August 25 when I quit with nothing else in place.

My mental health was destroyed and I should have left a year earlier but I didn’t eventually.

I got an amazing new job I’ve been doing for nearly a year, I’ve joined a gym and lost 3 and a half stone.

No union unfortunately. It sounds similar as I literally will never please her. If I deliver all of the work she just criticises and gives me double as my reward! I got an email at 6pm Friday outlining my deficiencies in a very professional way (they aren't fair or true but I think it's her audit trail). I think HR told her I complained and that was the trigger although reading the email was less distressing than being shouted at for 30 minutes which was what happened on Thursday!

@DoyouthinktheyknowYour post gave me hope! Glad you got the new job! How did you explain leaving your old role to new employers at interviews? I'm really worried about that especially as I've only been there 2 months.

I seriously think my boss has a personality disorder. One of her other directs is now on sick leave with stress (due to her.)

I'd be submitting a grievance on the back of that and getting it all out there.

I got my new job by networking, it was someone I’d worked with before who left because of the culture and she knew my skill set so it was very easy actually. I was very fortunate. I literally handed in my notice and applied for my new job a few days later.

I had been in my old job 2 and a half years so I’d given it a go but the manager after me left after 3 months! It’s NHS, I think most people get it, it’s a huge change from clinical to management and a lot hate it.

Wishing you luck with your journey, life really is too short to be unhappy at work. I also had a very tricky boss and it was really hard. I made my bosses job easy because I worked so flipping hard and a couple of months after I left, she handed in her notice!

There are always ways to phrase leaving, not what you expected etc. I have a colleague who lasted less than 3 months at a new job, it just wasn’t for her and she went back to her old job.
