Accepting or rejecting? I am so torn

Accepting, albeit begrudgingly

LuckOfTheDrawer · 03/04/2023 12:54

I'm also not sure. It's a bit crap really.

IsGoodIsDon · 03/04/2023 13:00

I don’t get to vote. I work in a hospice but they follow the NHS AfC pay scales. As I’m bank band 5 I get paid on the lowest pay scale despite 20 years experience. I can’t get a permanent nhs role as I don’t have the childcare and no family help. I was really hoping that the RCN would get a decent enough deal and no one off payments as that’s not going to help me one bit.
I fully supported the strikes online and went down to our local picket line but I get no say. It’s so depressing and I feel like giving up on the profession.

Battlecat98 · 03/04/2023 14:01

Rejecting it. It's insulting considering how high we went in at. As soon as this vote is over I am leaving to be RCN.

kateclarke · 03/04/2023 14:04

Definitely rejecting. It’s an insult.

MegCleary · 03/04/2023 15:22

I am defeated by it all and feel might as well accept or wait longer and get feck all.
I addresses nothing, it will not help retention

Accepted I didn't support the strikes in the first place, and worked as Rostered.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/04/2023 15:34

And I agree that we might as well get something, rather than let this drag on forever, all the whole loosing money.

QuintanaRoo · 03/04/2023 15:35

I want to reject. Should I have had something through the post? I’m in the union?

Potatomashed · 03/04/2023 15:35

I was pretty sure I would reject but I just can’t quite press that button after reading their multiple emails ‘this is truly the best we think we can do’ etc. Hard to know if that’s the ingrained ‘listen to authority’ in me though..

shakeitoffsis · 03/04/2023 15:38

Iv rejected.

OhVicIveFallen · 03/04/2023 15:41

I've accepted. I need the money and I really don't think we'll get any better if we reject it. I know it's crap but I don't think the government give a shit.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 03/04/2023 15:41

Yes, the email I received seems to suggest we should accept this or risk getting a lot less.

I'm not sure about anything anymore!

QuintanaRoo · 03/04/2023 15:49

Found the email and rejected

marshmallowsforbreakfast · 03/04/2023 16:04

I've accepted, i don't agree with it however if we reject it'll drag on longer and we'll end up with less.

ChocHotolate · 03/04/2023 16:10

Rejected. It's an a duly when compared to what other striking professions have been offered. Also Scotland was offered much more

addictedtotheflats · 03/04/2023 16:24

Rejected. 5% is not going to solve the problem, its not going to entice 40,000 nurses to join the NHS, its not going to improve patient safety and its not going to give me a wage I'm satisfied with. I think 10% would have been a better offer but we definitely deserve the 19% we asked for. I'm happy to strike again.

CinnamonCoffee · 03/04/2023 16:50

Is this just England? I think a deal has been accepted in wales but I could be wrong.

Lannielou · 03/04/2023 17:39

Rejected, its not a true payrise and it won't improve anything in the nhs

whatami2 · 03/04/2023 19:14

Rejected. This pay gives us nothing in real terms and next year we will be worse off again. we won't be striking again next year so please make the strikes worthwhile and dont accept until they give us something good. The council workers in my town got 10%. Firefighters got a very decent offer too. Caterpillar workers got a raise in the 10s too. i smell something fishy, as the government has managed to divide and conquer the RCN by making this "promise" of a separate spine for nurses and now they are recommending us to accept a pay rise that it is not actually worth it.
Please note that dentists and doctors are not doing any better than nurses by being on a different pay system (have a wee look at medtwitter, they have lost more pay over the last 20 years than AfC). A bigger population of workers makes us stronger, no smart person should be falling for this trap.

Battlecat98 · 03/04/2023 20:03

@whatami2 I totally agree. I can't help but wonder how they got Pat Cullen to put such an insulating offer to us. Very depressing to think people are prepared to accept this offer. I think the one off payment was deliberate, so people would accept it as they need money.

Zwicky · 04/04/2023 00:45

Rejecting. 5% is a pisstake considering the cost of living, the uplifts others have had, the years of freezes and below inflation rises, and we fall even further behind Scotland than we were before ( at my band from -7% to -9%). I don’t agree with a separate spine for nursing.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 04/04/2023 00:51

Im not accepting.

In a couple of years will realise what a poor offer this is and we won't have a leg to stand on then.

The public won't have any sympathy for another strike the strikes will have been for nothing.

thebeachisenough · 04/04/2023 01:07

Rejected!

Fire threatened to strike, didn't strike and got 12%. How is 5% fair?!

LudoBagman · 04/04/2023 01:10

Personally I think Pat needs to step down and someone more competent go into negotiations (Mick Lynch anyone)?! I'm embarrassed by unison frankly!!! Im part of both rcn and unison ( 2 degrees 2 registrations and 2 jobs) unite are the only ones sensible in my head tbh
