Wfh jobs where can I find one?

I don't care about pay or hours or what it is but I am currently in a low paid wfh job. The wfh bit means I can continue working and doing school runs/help with homework/generally be with my dc.

I absolutely hate the job though. Struggling to find a completely remote job and everytime I put 'remote' as a filter it turns out its hybrid not remote. Very annoying.

Most companies do require you to go into the office at least occasionally, I’d say you’re quite lucky to have a completely remote job now. I’m sure there are some out there but they’ll be harder to find and you’ll have to keep enquiring like you have been to find the ones that are truly WFH

Thanks. I meant where do I literally look for them, (I appreciate I haven't made this clear) ie are there recruitment that allow you to search remote only but don't then mean hybrid. I also live rurally so going into an office normally costs too much to make it worth working.

I work for local authority and there are often jobs posted that are entirely wfh in any part of the country.

frillyumbrella · 23/02/2023 11:38

Thanks @seratoninmoonbeams that's somewhere I hadn't thought of looking. I've actually wfh for the last 4 years in this job but really can't string it out any longer!

Indeed and LinkedIn enable you to search for remote options. It's worth keeping your search broad though, sometimes you can apply for remote working in a flexible working request, sometimes organisations are more flexible than they can appear "officially"- it's a bit of a lottery though, you need to speak to people that already work in those organisations.

The civil service has some departments that offer home working contracts, like UKHSA, most are usually hybrid officially though.

Local authority. I have a council job and only do 4hrs a week in the office max. My hours are flexible around school and other commitments so it’s great 😁

I also have a local authority job WFH. I’ve been there a year and only had to go into an office once for a meeting.

You will then get to see whether vacancies are hybrid or remote

It's worth joining this Facebook group. Some of the roles are hybrid working but I have seen fully remote vacancies.

I work for an education charity and we're almost exclusively remote. There's an possibility of going into offices about once a quarter but generally you can work from home and flex hours. We're crying out for Coordinators. Cannot recruit them at all! Or we do and they're good so they move up quickly and we're stuck again!

frillyumbrella · 28/02/2023 08:42

@Coraline353 thank you, would you possibly be able to PM me the name? I can go in once a quarter, it's more the every week in an office that would pose an issue.

If you look for jobs in IT a lot of those can be remote.

Frequency · 11/07/2023 11:33

I work in IT and most of our jobs are remote if they're not field-based, however, you are generally expected to be at your desk and working so it wouldn't really fit with OP's expectations of being able to do school runs and housework during working hours.

I can get a bit of housework done on weekends when I'm just covering the OOH service desk, waiting for emergency calls, but during the week my colleagues would notice if I wandered off to mow the lawn or walk the dog.
