I think one of mine was running a bath ?

I can't standing the ones who eat and munch their way through a letter 😤then burp at the end - why ? just why ?

Whitestar55 · 09/02/2023 11:09

I suppose we do most of these things ourselves while transcribing, especially the swearing! 😂

OP posts:
Lovemydaxie · 09/02/2023 13:10

I've had someone snoring in the background. Very loud and clear, no mistaking it 😂

ElleBee56 · 09/02/2023 13:11

I totally agree about the ones dictating with a cold and the awful sniffing and phlegmy coughs, I can understand the need for it, I've done it myself, but surely they could turn off the recording! I've also had dictation where the doctors fart, blow their nose, swear, kids shouting in the background, taps running which sounds like someone washing up and probably multiple other annoying things. A couple of things that turned my stomach whilst working in a hospital, we had a registrar who used to pick his nose and eat it in full view of staff and patients. If he came into our office I either had to not look at him or leave the room. I once followed a lady in Asian dress with the long scarf over her head and draped over her shoulder who blew her nose into it then threw the scarf over her shoulder. I could vomit just thinking about it!

Chrissols · 09/02/2023 13:27

@nomadchild OMG!!!! I don't mind hearing it over the headset, but I would draw the line if they were stood next to me hahaha 🌬

SJAvirtual · 09/02/2023 16:18

I used to work in an NHS Trust where the CEO used to pick his nose in Board meetings etc, you would think a non-exec would have had a quiet word with him LOL. He used to fart like a trooper one of the EA's used to keep a can of Impulse and quite obviously spray when he farted, he was oblivious to it, and this is a CEO!!!!

Frazzledbynature · 09/02/2023 22:34

If there was a thread that ever escalated off topic this is it ha ha!😆

Anyone on here work for Accuro? I have recently started and the pay per minute of dictation is awful at 0.45. The dictation I have gotten so far has been very clear, so no complaints about that. They said once I have gained more experience and get "signed off" the pay increases. Don't want to ask them already about this, I only started a week ago, so maybe a bit cheeky to ask already lol.

Has anyone done work for them and pay has increased?

Chrissols · 12/02/2023 17:33

@EmilyJ23 yes I have, but it takes about a year to get an increase and then it’s only in the region of five pence so still a very poor rate. The dictation actually gets worse after you become established as the seem to keep the lovely clear gp ones for new starters

a year and that’s all the increase you get?! That’s a disgrace! I did enjoy the typing last week, although dread seeing that “feedback” email come through lol and I felt the feedback was for petty things.

I cant physically go into work due to my health and my boss doesn’t allow work from home so thought I’d give this a try and see if it’s worth it. Think I’ve worked out what made this week would have equaled not even 2 hours in my job. Very disheartening

Chrissols · 12/02/2023 18:08

@EmilyJ23 Accuro are known for paying badly unfortunately

Oh no. I Havent found anybody yet who offers good pay lol. Thanks for your help x

Chrissols · 12/02/2023 18:17

@EmilyJ23 You can definitely make more on Dict8 or TPro than you can Accuro 😊

That’s good to hear!! I actually sent Tpro my cv few weeks ago. They said someone would be in contact if they want to pursue my application but haven’t heard from them🙄 you don’t happen to know how much they pay per audio minute?

Chrissols · 12/02/2023 18:23

I used to do a bit for them, but not anymore, purely because I have plenty of work now, but I was paid 0.0715 per line of 65 characters, slightly less than Dict8 but absolutely plenty of work constantly.

Whitestar55 · 13/02/2023 10:34

Work is sparse on DICT8, how is Tpro? Is it picking up?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 13/02/2023 10:40

@Whitestar55 haha! I have actually done more on DICT8 this morning as very, very little on TPro again this morning, and there was virtually none on Tpro over the weekend - I did three short letters only. I do find it worrying as up until recently there were always 100s or letter showing all the time and now zilch.

Gally123 · 13/02/2023 10:59

@Whitestar55 - just 8 letters showing on the Tpro system at the moment and none are my specialities.

Whitestar55 · 13/02/2023 11:56

@Gally123 Oh no, not good Tpro-wise then. I wonder what the problem truly is that they seem to be reluctant to disclose?

When the dictation is slurred pretend words because the English is so poor 🙀 The desire to use the note box for expletives is strong today !!!

danblack87 · 14/02/2023 12:41

I have found there is plenty on Dict8 recently; depends on your specialty I guess. Today there are 99 tasks waiting in my specialities. I just wish I could get a whole day on it but my grand-daughter is arriving in 45 mins SO not looking good.

Whitestar55 · 14/02/2023 13:34

I've had enough of this low paid, no paid (for some elements), laborious, monotonous, low appreciation occupation that has fallen so far behind with regard to rates of pay, job satisfaction, cost of living and with an uncertain future, so I'm going to look into learning some new tech skills that I hope will enable me to take up other work from home. I'll have to carry on with transcription to generate an income at present and hopefully it will be there as a back-up for some time to come. I don't know how successful I'll be, but gotta try something as on a downward spiral doing this.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 14/02/2023 13:39

@Whitestar55 You sound like I was feeling. I have signed up with another company, still self-employed, and dictation, but a bit of formatting and paid an hourly rate rather than an 'output' rate. They are based 400 miles away from me, but sending me a computer with peripherals etc and guarantee the hours I asked for and have put that in a contract.

Whitestar55 · 14/02/2023 13:54

@Chrissols Well done, I hope it works out well for you. I'm hoping to steer away from transcription, but as I said it's all I have at the moment.

OP posts:
Whitestar55 · 15/02/2023 16:52

Has anyone done medicolegal transcription or general transcription? I didn't want to, but I'm seriously thinking of applying elsewhere now, as I've had enough of medical transcription, the awful standard of, and impossible to understand ESL, and the inevitable feedback that comes with it, I feel completely drained doing it. Just wondered if anyone has experience of transcription other than medical, is it better or worse?
