I made a b&h claim at the start of the year. I didn’t go formal. All manner of attempts have been made by managers and hr to minimise and sweep the issue under the rug.

Ive now said I’m leaving the job because of b&h and it’s like all hell as broke lose. HR are denying every knowing about this issue even though I have many emails sent to them. They are trying to save their own skin in front of the new investigating manager and I’m honestly done with it all.

The stress is fucking horrendous.

help!!

I'm in HR but I don't know what B&H is?

Jalisco · 05/08/2022 22:27

What help do you require? You are leaving. And you never submitted a formal grievance, so no matter how many emails you might have sent, there wasn't a grievance. You don't have to do anything or participate in anything, so just move and and ignore the whole thing. It's their problem now, not yours, and there is nothing you need to stress about.

Bullying and harassment allegations

smooththecat · 05/08/2022 22:28

Bullying and harassment?

MILLYmo0se · 05/08/2022 22:29

Im thinking bullying and harrasment? No help im afraid OP but hope you get good advice here

silentpool · 05/08/2022 22:29

HR are not there to help you, their role is to protect the business. I'd move on to be honest.

Isaidnoalready · 05/08/2022 22:30

If they are denying they even know about it and you have obvious proof thats even more reasons to leave

Are you leaving for a new job?

lrosey · 05/08/2022 22:30

ACAS all the way, so helpful.

flowerTen · 05/08/2022 22:31

yes bullying and harassment.

I don’t know what sort of help I’m looking for if I’m honest. I’ll still be with the same business in a different part of it. Still feel like it looks so bad on me.

Do you have legal cover on your home insurance?

Isausernameavailable · 05/08/2022 22:34

So if you didn't 'go formal' what did you do?

flowerTen · 05/08/2022 22:36

@Isausernameavailable raised it informally as part of the policy.

OP posts:
flowerTen · 05/08/2022 22:38

@Longdistance no unfortunately.

Longdistance · 05/08/2022 22:41

Oh bum! I always take out legal cover with my home insurance for the employment cover part.
Have you copies of emails sent? If you do, it’s a good start.

TheBestBitch · 05/08/2022 22:42

There are 2 issues here imo

  1. the bullying and harassment you say you suffered
  2. your resignation
wrt the first, did you raise an official grievance? If not why not? no HR dept can investigate without one if you did, what was the outcome?

second, you resigned. Because of B&H? But if you didn’t first raise a grievance nobody can have been expected to look into it

tbh it sounds as if you need to cut your losses and move on. Or consider whether in fact you’re the problem

flowerTen · 05/08/2022 22:46

@TheBestBitch you’re right. I worry I have been the problem and something has gone awry because of me. I don’t think so but may be. I’m finding it hard to think straight about it all .

HR serve the company not you. I am in a union and have used them when I had pay issues after maternity leave. HR are not in your side.
Follow the Acas advice- raise a formal grievance- only resign if you want to.

flowerTen · 05/08/2022 22:50

I need to get in touch with union. Thank you .

Can you write out a timeline (for you not to share here) of exactly when you raised what and with who?
Verbally, in writing (print out your emails), what was the response?

Having all this will help you to process it and anyone else to advise you.

It is also easier to keep things factual as it removes some of the emotion

Breconhelen · 05/08/2022 23:31

If you've not exhausted your company's processes you may be able to go to a tribunal.

I could be wrong on that but I think you need legal advice in the first instance.

MsPincher · 06/08/2022 12:01

Tbh it’s best to move on now. What would you even expect HR to do? You haven’t made a formal complaint.

i would be careful of making complaints about people to HR. It’s usually not the best way to deal with things and it will unfortunately affect the way people view you.
