Has anyone had a pay rise recently?

I have a pay review coming up in a few weeks time. I know that inflation is high, but there's the argument that everyone getting pay rises will only make inflation worse.

So I'm just trying to get a feel for what people are getting. Google tells me 3% is typical for 2022.

Not including any promotions or bonuses etc. Just basic rate rises of those working in the same position as a % would be helpful.

Straw poll - Payrises www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4587465-straw-poll-payrises

4%. Our internal union said they asked for more.
Last few years we've been getting 1.5/1.75/2

MyNeighBoarTotoro · 16/07/2022 09:30

Yes. All staff have just had a pay rise of £1 for every contracted hour (and a bit more for some staff who were on minimum wage as the minimum hourly wage has been put £1.50 above national minimum wage). Worked out at 6% pay rise for me but obviously was more for our lowest paid staff and less for the CEOs and others near the top.

LubaLuca · 16/07/2022 09:32

I got 3%, my husband got 7%.

DrDreReturns · 16/07/2022 09:36

I had a payrise that matched inflation in January. The company I work for pledged to match salary increases to inflation last autumn. I'm not sure they were expecting 10% inflation though!

RudsyFarmer · 16/07/2022 09:37

I think it was 7% total in two stages.

Sooverthisnow · 16/07/2022 09:39

2%
Not happy

We get 3% next month (HE) sector. DH is private sector and they get 2-5% dependent on performance.

BooksAndChooks · 16/07/2022 09:45

Oops, I didn't realise that a similar thread had been done so recently.

I got 10% in our salary review in January. It's linked to performance though, so generally speaking most people got 1.5 -3%. I wasn't expecting it to be so high, and this was before inflation went through the roof.

AnuSTart · 16/07/2022 09:48

28% but I work in tech

BooksAndChooks · 16/07/2022 09:52

@DrDreReturns that would be a chunky payrise if they're keeping pace with inflation.

I am expecting the very most I will get to be 6%. There have been some massive payrises in my sector as companies struggle to keep discontented employees, like 26% for the same role as me. I do have great holidays and lovely working environment, so trying to weigh it all up.

I run my own business and have just given myself a 5% pay rise. I could make it slightly higher but don't want to pass it on to clients.

KangarooKenny · 16/07/2022 09:55

0%

FriendlyPineapple · 16/07/2022 09:55

Yes, about 12% maybe. I was promised it 8 months ago though and waited patiently while our business had a bit of a wobble, then insisted.

BooksAndChooks · 16/07/2022 10:00

@AnuSTart my DH works in tech too. No pay review until the end of the year, but it'll be interesting to see what they do.

I had a pay rise at the beginning of this year of about 20%. I'm only part-time so not a huge sum £-wise though. My employers - a family run small business - said to people that they wanted to reward us for working all through Covid (key industry) and after two years of no pay rises, we deserved it.

Last month they then said they were going to pay us an extra £100 a month each, because of rising prices & fuel costs etc.

I know that a pay rise like this is not the norm for most people, and consider myself very fortunate to work where I do.

Choopi · 16/07/2022 10:17

Dh got 25% recently. He works in tech. I'm self employed so no payrise for me.

HarryBlackberry1 · 16/07/2022 10:25

Teacher on upper pay scale. No pay rise for years. Take home pay has decreased due to increased NI contributions. Depressing.

YnysMonCrone · 16/07/2022 10:26

I'm a freelancer paid in US$ so the pound being in the toilet at the moment is beneficial but not technically a pay rise and it could go back the other way again

gwenneh · 16/07/2022 10:58

Was expecting 5%, wound up being 18%.

DrDreReturns · 16/07/2022 11:17

I'm in tech as well. I think tech employers know if they don't have competitive salaries staff will leave.

knackeredagain · 16/07/2022 11:19

We got 3%

AverageJoan · 16/07/2022 15:10

We got performance based pay increases in April so I got 2.5% then and just announced another 2.5% across most of the company

hamandpotato · 16/07/2022 15:21

5% but managed to get another increase so total 13%
