Any what makes you love it so much?

I've lost the spark for my job and career. It all feels a bit meh but I'm not entirely sure why. So looking for some uplifting stories.

I'm a buyer, whilst I don't love it all the time (surely no one likes their job all the time!) it can be varied, interesting, I like seeing what I spend ages working on materialise in store & I work across a number of teams.

The freebies are good too especially if I'm working on an area where I use the products & therefore save money

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 20/06/2022 23:23

I work in a Multi Academy Trust in Operations and I'm based in a school. It's the variety I love and self managing.

I’m a doctor in a hospice.

JasperJohnsPaintbrush · 20/06/2022 23:32

Artist -I teach, create commissions, run workshops. No 2 days are ever the same. The best thing is seeing people grow in confidence through their creativity.

Management accounting. I spend all day alone at home in silence in excel. Bliss.

ImNotYourHunHun · 20/06/2022 23:33

Finance role in auto racing. Absolutely love my job!

sweetkitty · 20/06/2022 23:57

I’m a teacher in severe and complex needs, it’s hard work but the children are amazing

stayathomer · 21/06/2022 00:02

I’ve worked in loads of jobs I loved from with animals, in a bookstore and various offices. The standout thing for me is ALWAYS the people I work with- you work with people you don’t click with, it adds hours to your day

Spookypig · 19/11/2022 19:00

I’m a teacher, but not in the UK. Without being too outing, I work I am Asian country where teachers are highly respected and education extremely valued. But most of all I just adore the kids. I love my job so much that it actually worries me sometimes because time goes too fast 😂 You know they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun”? I find that one day it’s Monday, and then suddenly it’s Friday with no time having passed! I wonder whether I should get a job I love less just because my life is passing me by too quickly!

bekind123 · 19/11/2022 19:31

I'm a school family support worker and safeguarding lead. I love my job. Pay is very poor and I always work over my contracted hours but it is so rewarding.

vdbfamily · 19/11/2022 19:34

I have been an Occupational Therapist for over 30 years and loved every area I have worked in.

NannyR · 19/11/2022 19:41

I'm a nanny - I get paid for playing Lego and splashing in puddles! Obviously there are some challenging bits too, but on the whole it's a fantastic job, lots of freedom to plan your own day, lots of time outdoors, the opportunity to build up lovely relationships with children and families and the pay is good too. Downsides are the long hours and not much adult interaction during the day.

dropthevipers · 19/11/2022 20:06

Designer/maker of furniture. I get to make things with my hands that people cherish.

junebirthdaygirl · 19/11/2022 20:20

MWNA · 19/11/2022 20:42

I'm a CNS in a hospice.

Lolreally · 19/11/2022 20:46

Holistic therapist self employed working from home. I retrained when I was 50 I absolutely love every single day, wonderful interesting clients, always growing and learning, helping people and I love the control I see who I want to when I want.

clary · 19/11/2022 20:46

I love my job. I work in a very creative marketing agency as a copy editor on the projects. I love the tasks I do and also it's a great team, so vibrant and talented.

Before this I was a newspaper journalist for years, loved being chief sub editor, but there are none now.

Then I was a teacher for several years but did not love that, left that for a comms role and hence to my current role.

Caveat- none of these jobs will ever pay v well apart from teacher, if you get high enough up the ladder, which can be done in a matter of 6-10 years.

Chomolungma · 19/11/2022 20:49

University lecturer - I find it interesting and rewarding.

Joterrin · 19/11/2022 20:52

HCA in a maternity unit, worked my way up from other areas in the hospital.

It was a complete career change, I started in the second month of covid & have never looked back.

Its the most rewarding job I’ve had & the most exhausting but I work in a team that strives to make a difference.

Badhairday101 · 19/11/2022 20:57

I'm a teacher and SENCO working in a special school for children with Autism and SEMH difficulties. I love it because it's rewarding, I'm never bored, I laugh and have fun everyday, love the children and the staff I work with and enjoy that no two days are the same.

Ponkyandthebrain · 19/11/2022 21:03

Detective specialising in child protection and rape and sexual assault. I honestly love my job. It makes such a difference to people who need it the most. Salary is reasonable and the pension is still good. It’s pretty recession proof too. Most forces are recruiting direct entry detectives if you fancy a radical change!

youspinmerightround22 · 19/11/2022 21:08

I'm an opiate recovery worker.

Wallywobbles · 19/11/2022 21:25

Instructional Designer for an NGO. Fully remote.

giggly · 19/11/2022 21:30

Nurse therapist in CAMHS, love my job but hate the ever growing unrealistic expectations on the Google educated parents who come looking for medical reasons for shit poor parenting. Love the ones who are open, honest and help us to make their dc well again.
