I’m thinking of changing job and would like to work more from home.
What kind of jobs do people do that enable them to wfh and have you always done this or is it a since covid times thing?
I’ve been looking online and actually thought there would be more wfh jobs now as things have changed so much but I haven’t found many advertised yet.

Communications/PR, wasn’t home based pre covid but now it’s ‘hybrid’ working between office & home.

pradavilla · 03/03/2022 18:00

I'd imagine anything that can be done on a computer.

I'm an accountant.

Never used to wfh but since covid I do, although going bk hybrid maybe 1-2 days a week in the future.

sosickofthisshit · 03/03/2022 20:32

I work in the civil service, and work from home 4 days and in the office 1 day a week.

APurpleSquirrel · 03/03/2022 20:34

Marketing/events organising/subscriptions - was in the office until Covid but in a satellite office (main office in London), but satellite office has now been closed so wfh permanently now.

DelurkingAJ · 03/03/2022 20:34

Another accountant who has gone from full time in the office to averaging two days a week in the office.

Ilikewinter · 03/03/2022 20:38

Civil service, currently 1 day in office but that will go to 2 in line with the rest of the department.

toastfiend · 03/03/2022 20:38

I've had 2 WFH roles in a row now, one was pre-pandemic - marketing/market research. Love my job, love WFH. Both roles have/had completely flexible hours, too.

AskforJanice · 03/03/2022 20:38

Another accountant. I worked from home prior to covid, but my current company has only been working from home since covid. We are now going in once a week, lovely balance

Littlemiss74 · 03/03/2022 20:42

@toastfiend this sounds ideal!

I working in Business Intelligence / Analytics. Previous job was hybrid. Current job was advertised as a wfh position. There is a local office I can go into if I want to but there is no expectation.
Colleagues work from home around the country and my boss lives and works in Spain.

toastfiend · 03/03/2022 20:43

It is! I know I'm very lucky!

Rshard · 03/03/2022 20:46

Local council. Worked 2 days a week at home pre covid and 5 days during. Likely to be a hybrid arrangement, yet to be determined - they done seem in any hurry to have use back. Certain staff/teams have been in the office more, spending on their service

sparklyponies · 03/03/2022 20:46

Childminder. An absolute dream after 18 years in the NHS.

sittingonacornflake · 03/03/2022 20:47

Lawyer. Although I am going to start going back in once a week.

Ohbuggeritsme · 06/03/2022 10:51

PA - was in the office pre-covid, not go in one or two days a week depending on diary

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 06/03/2022 10:52

Management accounts. Pre covid 100% office based, now 100% home based.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 06/03/2022 20:04

Charity sector. Negotiated a home based contract with some travel.

Phos · 06/03/2022 20:09

I work for a large financial services firm in non-financial Risk. Kind of a consultant of sorts but internal.

Before covid I split my time almost 50-50 between home and office. Now even though I could go in, I don't see the point. My team are spread all over the country anyway. There are members of my wider team in my local office but I don't think they go in much these days. I went in twice and was sitting on my own all day!

grizzlygrump · 06/03/2022 20:11

Software engineer. Prior to that project manager, also 100% from home.

pentopaper · 06/03/2022 20:12

TippledPink · 06/03/2022 20:16

Social services- manager. Go to the office once a week the rest from home.

thebigpurpleone · 06/03/2022 20:23

LinkedIn you can filter now

itsnotdeep · 06/03/2022 20:25

Everyone in my organisation wfh and are unlikely to be back in the office more than 2 days a week. What is your skill set?

(I'm in the charity sector but there are lawyers, accountants, marketing people etc all working in the sector, so you might be able to get a job in the sector).

QueenofDestruction · 06/03/2022 20:26

Lawyer was wfh pre covid.

WouldIwasShookspeared · 06/03/2022 20:27
