If you’re in a senior role do you feel like this?

I’m in a senior client facing role (board or board minus 1 usually) - very high expectations and standards.
I constantly feel like I am winging it and getting it wrong. I feel I don’t show leadership and come across more junior / younger than I am. I work very hard but sometimes fail to meet the mark. I’m easily intimated by certain types of senior people.
Sometimes I produce amazing work but I feel like these are flashes of brilliance than how I operate all the time.

I know about imposter syndrome but in my case I don’t have imposter syndrome I’m just genuinely not meeting the mark!

Not sure what I’m asking but I need to change something.

It's ok to make mistakes, but fail fast and always have a plan B to switch to. If you are consistently not meeting your goals/objectives then something needs to change.

Training is great when you've been stuck in a rut for a while, you need external advice and a shake up to your perspective. Listen to industry podcasts, search keynotes from events in your industry. Read some books.

I felt like this (CEO, charity sector) for the 15 years before I ended up with burnout.
I found trying to guide a trustee board who lacked the skills and mindset for a fast moving, growing organisation was a thankless task.
My Chair was well meaning but ineffective and basically went along with anything I suggested 😳
Thankfully our major founders were far more constructive and supportive but it was a very lonely place to be.

Funders not founders
