Blokey type here. IT professional with Developer, Developer Manager, and Strategy Consultant on cv until redundancy in 2017.
54 years old. Didn't get back to work immediate as DW had a life changing operation, and DM developed dementia before passing away.
Now ready to re enter the fray and have been honing and brushing my cv, looking for similar IT management or consultant roles.
Out of the blue, just now, had a call from a company that I sent my cv to. They want me in for a 90 minute interview of which 40 minutes is a presentation.
No preliminary chats. No remote calls. A real life rock-up-and-see-us interview. With a panel of 3 (from the iCal
).
Why am I flabberghasted ? Is this imposter syndrome gone wild, or is my assertion to DW that firms don't just go from "here's a pile of cvs" to "lets have that one in for 90 minutes " in 2021 ??????
Having recruited myself, I know I would at least want a brief telephone chat before pulling a candidate in.
Or have they just realised how fucking amazing and skilled I am. I mean I am, but it usually takes a while for people to realise. Sometimes they might never realise
I've got a week to prepare, but confidence is shot.
Would be grateful to hear if anyone else thinks this is odd - or normal. And if I can glean anything from the circumstances. Many thanks in advance.
On the basis I've been applying since last July, and the money is close to running out, I am also well aware that I'm in danger of developing magical thinking. And that won't do.
