Oblomov · 06/11/2007 18:43

We llok forward to you coming back.

pinkteddy · 06/11/2007 18:46

LIZS · 06/11/2007 18:47

LIZS · 06/11/2007 18:48

iota · 06/11/2007 18:50

I will miss your advice - I am sort of job-hunting at the mo and have read a lot of your very useful tips to others.

was it the worst people in the office thread? I am an IT bod and we got pasted as well. [shrugs]

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/11/2007 18:51

I cant (wo)man it all by myself you know

What's happened?

RubySlippers · 06/11/2007 18:51

flowery - you are a bloody star
you give wonderful advice
hope all is well and you will be back soon

Oblomov · 06/11/2007 18:57

Was it pointydogs thread on the worst dept ?
Hr got a bashing, didn't it.
But then I work in Finance - was sacked from an accountants becasue they thought I had too much "spunk" ( i.e. bollocks) to make it as an accountant - a bit too much personality to fit into the normal sterotype of Finance - if that nmakes you feel any better

iota · 06/11/2007 18:59

Right - I've just told them off

karen999 · 06/11/2007 19:08

Try not to get too stressed about it Flowerybeanbag - for what it is worth I always find your posts informative and very helpful. I have not asked for your direct advice on anything but have posted on some of the threads that you have....I have a law degree, am a paralegal and am in the last throws of becoming a solicitor so am always interested to see what you have to say (from a practical point)

Take great pride in the fact that you have given fab advice to many on this forum...and if some people upset you, try to rise above it....

Believe me I am on some other forums and lawyers get very very bad press!! But, hey who cares??

shreddies · 06/11/2007 19:21

Flowery that is a real shame, I really like you and you are such a contribution here. Pleeease come back soon. (Btw I got a job, the second one I emailed you about- health related)

Tinker · 06/11/2007 19:23

Flowery - most people aren't posting about HR in general, they are posting about their own HR. Ours would honestly make your teeth curl with some of the stories I have. Honestly. But you obviously don't work there.

Lulumama · 06/11/2007 19:23

i do hope you'll come back soon... you are an amazing person, you have posted some fantastic advice, and put up with some absolute crapola

take some time out and come back !

you'll be missed

mwah x

ellehcim · 06/11/2007 19:28

Very sad flowery. I have been really impressed at how often you respond when people need advice. I don't think I have ever disagreed with your advice.

I don't know what has upset you but I do understand. I too have been annoyed at some of the comments made which is why I don't respond to the employment queries as often as you do.

You will be missed xx

llareggub · 06/11/2007 19:32

flowery...hope you see this

I'm a fellow HR bod and I also posted on that thread. I accepted a long time that the majority of people are rude to HR. Early on in my career I lost track of the amount of abusive calls I used to get from employees and managers about things which were 99% of the time bugger all to do with me.

There was a recent survey that showed that there high levels of stress in HR. This doesn't surprise me at all. Managers cock things up and blame HR. People then ring HR and feel justified in giving us a load of shit. Happy days indeed.

There are crap HR people out there. Good HR people usually leave crap organisations and work in places where they are valued and not treated like shit.

I tried to take the other thread with a pinch of salt and a bit of humour. But today I had a junior member in tears because a nasty piece of work had laid into her about a missing payment. Said payment is nothing to do with my colleague and actually turned out to be due to the manager not authorising the payment.

I've read posts on here that FBB has dealt with and many people have received great advice. I've posted the odd thing but I'm quite selfish and frequently can't be bothered.

Anyway flowery, take a well earned break and a clap on the back for being one of the good ones.

ceebee74 · 06/11/2007 19:36

flowery - I don't know what thread this happened on but am very to see you go.

I also work in HR but have always specialised in recruitment so am very inexperienced in employee relations - however, I have just recently been moved into an ER job and I am struggling to find my feet. I find your posts very informative as they are fantastic at teaching me how to look at ER issues in a fair manner - I guess I have been using you as my 'secret mentor'.

Hope you come back soon x

Oblomov · 06/11/2007 19:58

Anyone who knows Flowery knows she is a total star. What a shame this is.
I posted my disaproval on the other thread.
Not happy Oblomov

Mercy · 06/11/2007 20:05

Don't really know what has triggered this but I'll hope you will be back soon. You are the MN expert on employment issues!

(oh god, was it the worst dept thread??)

nightshade · 06/11/2007 20:10

flowery, haven,t come accross you and have just scanned the offending thread.

you need to get a thicker skin.

i didn't see any reference to yourself on that thread.

as a now ex social worker, there is plenty of ignorant comments and slagging of the profession about, on MN.

i certainly don,t feel the need to leave as a result of it.

keep it in perspective. surely you are a member of MN because first and foremost, you are a mother.

the work bit is only one aspect of your persona.

llareggub · 06/11/2007 21:42

Nightshade, I found the thread amusing last night, even as a HR bod myself. But some of the posts were spiteful rather than lighthearted.

Additionally, flowery really does go beyond the call of duty here in providing advice to fellow mumsnetters, and for what thanks, really?

mamasin · 07/11/2007 12:04

so sorry flowery that you'll be gone for a bit, but enjoy the break, Miss you

ImBarryScott · 07/11/2007 12:20

Flowery - I lurked on some of the threads you posted on when i was making my application for flexible working. Your posts were always informative and we'll miss your expert knowledge aend support.

As social worker, I know what it's like when your profession, which you work hard at, gets a full-on MN slating. You know what you do is valuable. It's nothing to worry over if others can't see that.

lalalonglegs · 07/11/2007 13:56

You have been fantastically helpful to me and to others. Please don't stay away long, you will be missed.

TwoToTango · 07/11/2007 14:33

I think its a real shame. You gave me some excellent, easy to understand advice about part time holiday entitlement which gave me the confidence to tackle HR and my manager about the issue (still not resolved but I won't give up!!). I have seen other posts you have made helping people with your fantastic advice.

You really do go above and beyond the call of duty so thank you and hope you'll be back soon.
