Just what it says on the tin!

Can they do that? I’m only one week into my notice and never in my career have I know that to happen (healthcare - private)

TIA

Nothing you can do OP. It’s just not worked out, which is sad and frustrating but you need to focus on the next thing now.

Do you have a new job to go to?

Mummytowooter · 28/06/2019 20:38

Yes have a new job and I’m so looking forward to it.

Great big hugs Op! You probably wouldn't have been happy there whilst working with the new boss so good riddance ! Look forward to your new job and who knows - it might actually take you great places! Disappoints can be great blessings! All the best and try not to dwell on it too much.

Mummytowooter · 28/06/2019 20:44

Thank you cherry 😊. It’s shaken me up and it will take time to bounce back but onto better things fingers crossed

Aww OP, it sounds like a really shitty situation. If you’ve got another job to go to, just grit your teeth, get through the rest of your notice period, and leave the fuckers.

Mummytowooter · 28/06/2019 20:45

They’re welcome to it! Karma is a big bad bitch 😁👍🏻

Good luck in your new job, bound to be better :)

Redcliff · 28/06/2019 21:10

Mummy - really sorry to read this. Years ago I had a similar story (although was on a fixed term contract which got renewed twice as I was doing so well and then it wasn't with no real explanation). It really stung and I was also expected to do a handover with the new person which I found really hard. I found a new job - more money, better commute and more interesting work which is great but even now I look back occasionally and feel pissed off.

prampushingdownthehighst · 28/06/2019 21:18

Well done on your new job

And thank fuck we have flowery amongst us, the usual crap advice been given on this thread as per.

Groovee · 28/06/2019 21:23

It could not be worse than my work advertising my role without telling me that they had decided on a slight change in contract and that they would advertise. That happened 3 weeks ago and I left today. It's been a turbulent week with upset everywhere.

Mummytowooter · 28/06/2019 21:25

I’m so sorry groove!

”Yes have a new job and I’m so looking forward to it.”

That’s excellent. Focus on that, and on the future, onwards and upwards Smile

Mummytowooter · 28/06/2019 21:51

I will try flowery. I’m devastated 😢

I’m aware that the thread has died and probably won’t be resurrected, but just in case, I’ve just read my own post back and have written exactly the opposite of what I meant - what I meant to say is that it’s very unusual for a post NOT to be advertised before you leave.
Idiot! (Me that is!) Hmm

Mummytowooter · 08/07/2019 20:08

I think I read it the way you’d meant it lol. After my hysteria had died down I was able to really think back and I’d remembered from a meeting a few weeks before that someone had asked if my colleague who was also leaving would be replaced. The answer then (and it’s minuted) was that it’s not appropriate to advertise the role until the individual has left the organisation. I will be asking about this in my exit interview.

It's really very unusual to delay advertising until someone has actually left. I've only known it happen when a reorganisation is in planning but not yet public. We even sometimes prepare the documentation as soon as a member of staff mentions they are planning to leave but not yet handed in their notice, so that we can publish the advert immediately on receipt of notice. We try to minimise any gaps.
