Just what it says on the tin!

Can they do that? I’m only one week into my notice and never in my career have I know that to happen (healthcare - private)

TIA

Out of courtesy? You're leaving the business - common sense says they'll need to replace you so they're not short-staffed. How does that not make sense? What did you expect them to do?

No need to get shitty with people who are responding to you either...

NorthEndGal · 28/06/2019 17:47

I'm sorry you are having a crap day, but you are making it worse for yourself by over reacting.
Of course they are going to be recruiting someone to replace you, common sense says if you told them you are leaving, you'd know your spot will be filled , so why would they need to tell you that

superram · 28/06/2019 17:48

You don’t need help, you’re leaving and I would hope not involved in the process.

Knobrob · 28/06/2019 17:50

Lol wot!?

Dyrne · 28/06/2019 17:50

OP why does it upset you? As PP said, even if they’ve started advertising now, it’s highly unlikely they will have anyone in before you’ve left, so it’s not like you’ll have that feeling of being ‘replaced’.

I’m assuming there’s a huge backstory here in order for it to upset you this much?

LikeDolphinsCanSwin · 28/06/2019 17:50

Just to clarify, this is a job that you have resigned from, rather than been given notice of redundancy???

imsuchagrump · 28/06/2019 17:51

Yes it's the norm not sure why your upset that they haven't informed you . It's not really any of your concern anymore is it unless you don't want to leave ?

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 28/06/2019 17:51

Why should they tell you they’re advertising your job?! You’ve resigned and they need to replace you.
Sorry you’ve had a bad day but you’re being utterly ridiculous about this.

PlatypusPie · 28/06/2019 17:52

Are you taking them replacing you as some sort of slight ? The post is bizarre and your reaction to totally normal responses is ...... curious

Lweji · 28/06/2019 17:52

I would just like to have been told out of curtesy!

Why? It doesn't affect you. You're leaving.

Take a break. Including from the thread. This is not something worth stressing about.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 28/06/2019 17:53

Errr yes. I'm sorry you've had a crappy day, but why do you need help? You're leaving and you need replacing.

DonkeyHohtay · 28/06/2019 17:53

But you're leaving and they need to replace you, preferably with as little spare time as possible.

What exactly did you expect, they wait until the day after you've left to place the advert?

Redcliff · 28/06/2019 17:54

MrsFezz - you know its managers that need to sort out recruitment and HR just post up the job once managers get everything over to them? Also why shouldn't it happen ?

Lweji · 28/06/2019 17:54

It's also possible they want some overlap so that you can pass on relevant info.
In which case, I'd expect them to ask you eventually, if they get someone to start early enough.

ArchMemory · 28/06/2019 17:56

I’m confused. Have they dismissed you or you’ve failed probation or something? If you’ve resigned then I (and clearly others) can’t understand why you’re upset? You’re leaving, they still need someone to do the work so they’re advertising now to minimise the time the role is vacant. This is normal practice.

TheFlis12345 · 28/06/2019 17:56

What an odd thread. What did you think would happen OP?

StarbucksSmarterSister · 28/06/2019 17:56

It's standard. Everywhere I've worked they also try and get a handover period before the postholder leaves. Not always possible of course.

flowery · 28/06/2019 17:57

”I have known it happen occasionally..but it’s not supposed to”

Eh? Why do you think it’s not “supposed to” happen?

Xyzzzzz · 28/06/2019 17:59

I guess it shouldn’t happen in case the op for example cancels her notice and decides to stay. Wherever I’ve worked in large organisations jobs have been advertised afterwards.

Thequaffle · 28/06/2019 18:00

Doesn’t impact you, you’re leaving...?

PurpleDaisies · 28/06/2019 18:01

Do you mean probation period instead of notice?

prampushingdownthehighst · 28/06/2019 18:01

How odd...Sorry that you are having a rubbish day but you must realise that you need replacing??

XXcstatic · 28/06/2019 18:02

How unreasonable of your employer to try to fill the vacancy you have created Hmm

Winsomelosesome · 28/06/2019 18:02

I may be mistaken but I think the whole point of a notice period is so the employer has time to find someone else for the role Confused.

newmomof1 · 28/06/2019 18:03

@Xyzzzzz I'm pretty sure the company don't have to accept a resignation withdrawal
