To ask for your advice on this application form?

I'm trying to apply for a really lovely role. To apply, you just send your CV, a covering letter and their 'Recruitment monitoring form' to their email.

However, you cannot download the form. It's simply a link you click on. I said to DH why don't I just copy and paste the information from the linked page.

But he said I shouldn't, I should email the link to him, let him print it off at work tomorrow, and then for me to fill it in and hand it back to him. He will the scan it back to me the following day and I can then include it in my application. He advises that it will look very bad if I just copy and paste the info, fill it in and send it across.

Doing it the way he advises will mean my application won't be send across until Friday earliest.

What would you do/should I do?

I really wanted to be an early applicant Sad Letting DH scan it across and then send it back off is so long winded.

Do you mean the monitoring form is in the format of a web page? Is there any way to enter data on it? If so, do that and save a PDF copy and send that across.

Printing off a copy to complete feels very old school, but your options depend on its current format.

Hi Bomb, no there's no way to enter data into it Sad it's just a web page. No way to edit it unless you copy it into Word and edit it from there...

But you can't paste the logo or anything and it doesn't look very 'complete' when you copy and paste the text

When is the deadline? I'm torn between copying and pasting and making your own - it shows initiative, or emailing them tonight - offering to copy it into your own doc - and if you don't hear back tomorrow then send it over with your own doc.

The way you describe the role suggests a company that will appreciate the thought you've put into it.

Good luck!

Bomb The deadline isn't until 10th Feb but they're wanting to interview as soon as possible (so it says). It's a really lovely company (a charity actually), and something I would love to be a part of Sad

I probably sound very daft in my posts. I'm just use to the same old CV sending with a cover letter for my usual job searching. And if not, it's usually just a recruitment website and it asks you the questions on the online application form.

This format has definitely thrown me off!

Evening OP. We're just nipping onto the thread to let you know that we've shifted it over to the Employment Issues topic, as requested.

Hope you get lots of useful advice.

Smile

Thank you HQ Smile I think Bomb may be right, I think it's a good point that they might like the effort of me making my own copy Grin

To me, it would show initiative - especially if you put a brief explanation in your covering letter to explain the format etc.
Good luck.

Can you “print” as a pdf, then edit the pdf? Depends whether it just ticking boxes or more.
