Silver shoes for interview??

Hi there,

I've applied for several NHS jobs and have some fabulous navy wide-legged trousers (cost an arm and a leg!) and a navy and white blouse. Do you think I could get away with these at interview as I like to be a little different and they're also something I would wear day-to-day if I don't get any of the jobs.

No smallfootpercy - I meant that the last time I had an interview was at the beginning of September when it was still hot and I wore some very smart sandals but now I will have to invest in some shoes suitable for interview :-)

I think it's the bright and rather garish silver that's putting me off if I'm honest. Why silver?

The rest of the outfit is fab though.

No need for a suit, your outfit is fabulous 😍

The M&S brogues would look good. Not actually my taste but with some silver jewellery... wow!

smallfootpercy · 15/10/2018 13:38

I’m conservative, I’d go for dark blue brogues but you’re not me!

rosinavera · 15/10/2018 13:39

Bluntness - I don't know, I just want to love something when I buy it and I think it adds a twist to a formal outfit.

I'm really pleased that you like my outfit :-)

I have the ‘Artist’ brogues from Shoe Embassy - very easy to wear, smart, comfy. Not for everyone as mine are gold, red, and pink ;-)

rosinavera · 15/10/2018 13:42

Thank you smallfootpercy - glad everyone seems to like my outfit :-)

I wouldn't do anything too 'out there' for an interview in case it puts the interviewer off. After all it's not an art college you're applying for.

If you really want the job, play it safe. Then wear your silver shoes once you get there.

rosinavera · 15/10/2018 13:45

Oh wow Girlwhowearsglasses - now we're talking - how lovely are they!! :0

I think with my sensible head on you are right Growingboys I do actually have last years' version of these - do you think they're too casual?

Rosinavera the silver M&S brogues I'd seen are more flatform, with a white crepe sole, but the ones you linked to are fabulous, I have some navy two tone Hamble oaks which I love and wear to death.

Know what you mean about trouser length, I'm 5ft11 and struggle to find the perfect pair.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 15/10/2018 13:48

I’m here to tell you they are indeed lovely and comfortable. Maybe you should get them to celebrate if you get the job- they’re the brightest ones. The rest are more normal on the site

rosinavera · 15/10/2018 13:49

The trousers are verrrry long!!

Almondio - I don't want to be any taller at 5 ft 10 plus I've fallen over twice this year already wearing wedgy type shoes! :-0 I will look at the two-tone Hamble oaks! :-)

Girlwhowearsglasses -they will be my first purchase!! :-)

Ive interviewed for admin staff, nurses and support workers in NHS. They'd be fine imo

rosinavera · 15/10/2018 13:57

Thank you justforareply - do you mean the silver shoes or the navy seasalt ones? :-)

OP posts:
SimplyPut · 15/10/2018 14:11

I think the navy seasalt ones are also too casual. I say go with silver, be you!

rosinavera · 15/10/2018 14:25

Thank you SimplyPut - found the silver Clarks Hamble Oak ones that Almondio recommended but I can't find any in stock anywhere!! :-(

Amazon have some two-tone grey Hambles in stock, about £60. Not silver tho..!

abitoflight · 15/10/2018 15:34

I meant original silver ones

justforareply · 15/10/2018 15:35

And I meant first pair too

SimplyPut · 15/10/2018 16:58

Oh the Hamble oak are lovely!

rosinavera · 15/10/2018 17:01

Oh a hung jury then! :-)

SimplyPut · 15/10/2018 17:02

Rotten they are out of your size. Boden, Dune, Fitflop and Aldo are worth a look.

rosinavera · 15/10/2018 18:16

Thanks SimplyPut - I'll check them out :-)
