City lawyer with toddlers can't cope

I work FT at a city firm and have two dd 1 and 3. Have a full time daily nanny but still can't cope. Work all day, come home and put kids to bed and work all evening to make billable target or have to go to client functions. So stressed out that on weekend just want to sit in garden with kids and do nothing. Can't sleep, can't talk to anyone. How do people manage?

soapbox - precisely because she says she doesn't want to it's a good idea to look closely at that scenario.

All too often people have taboos, hang-ups etc that they don't wish to address that are stopping them from assessing all their options properly.

ComeOVeneer · 12/06/2007 14:55

I disagree with you on that point Anna. DH and I are in contact regularly through the day on the phone and email in both directions keeping abreast of his movements and home related issues.

Anna8888 · 12/06/2007 14:56

dinosaur - I tend to send email updates on ongoing situations like illness. But no, I don't call. Sometimes he might call me.

soapbox · 12/06/2007 14:56

Anna - how incredibly patronising!

Why on earth would one not call a parent at work to discuss ill children, be it partner or nanny?

My children often call me at work when they get home from school, for a little chat. Or email me!

Anna if both you and dp where at work would you not want your childminder/nanny to keep you informed of a sick child's progress?

bundle · 12/06/2007 15:00

Cod I think I am the Ocado of parenting.

I mean to deliver high quality goods as clearly ordered but occasionally they are at the wrong time and in the wrong amounts...

Dino sorry to hear about ds. I thought things were supposed to feel better once the drum burst, relief of pressure or something like that???

soapbox · 12/06/2007 15:01

Ah well there you go - Anna can be the M&S of parenting, but Dino is defintitely the Browns version. Eclectic, not for everyone, but for those who are discerning hits all the right places
