Teachers - No bloody flexibility!! What other job can I do?

Hi, Sorry to rant! I'm a teacher, and I know that people think we get an easy ride, but it's bloody hard work!

There is no flexibility in this job. Okay, okay we do get the holidays, but we cant have any flexibility about what time we arrive/leave school.

I'm a working Mum - my dd starts school full time come September - I'd love to be able to take her to school or pick her up every now and again.

Am thinking about packing it in, but what other job can I do?

Perhaps Ziopin would like to respond, since there are now 100 messages since her OP and she hasn't been back to comment.

Xenia it can actually be done with the school runs too- not perhaps with teachinga s a rule, but certainly with other careers: there's quite a few famillies at our school where Mum and Dad work back to back shifts for childcare (like ExPat does i think?), with Mum nursing or wahtever at night. Dh and I are fairly similar, albeit I am at Uni in the day.

Doesn't help the OP, but it is something that can be achieved in many career pathways

Where is the OP??

i teach p/t in a primary school, so for me it is a flexible job.

could you negotiate to have your ppa time at either the beginning or end of the day, so that you could pick up or drop off once a week?
