If you are a teacher, what's the best Xmas present the kids give you?

seen the other thread and wondered what teachers ACTUALLY like to receive!

I usually give a voucher for Boots or a clothes shop I know they use. DD checks coat labels for me. Teachers usually seem very pleased. It's not for much, but I reckon they get enough flowers/ chocolates/ smellies.

Any thoughts from teachers?

I got DS's teacher and TA an Oxfam gift when he left Reception. One of the gifts was exercise books, the other footballs. I thought it was a lovely idea, and would have liked to receive it myself.
Alternative would be to buy something fairtrade, they have a lot of gifts in the Oxfam shops at this time of year.

chocolate always went down with me

but did receive a few things from different children that really made an impression. One year got a little make up bag which I still use, a lovely little gift boxy thing which a pupil had written a really lovely message in and a nice mug with a box of those individual coffee filters - somthing that I loved but wouldn't necessarily buy for myself.

This was secondary school though so the pupils probably chose what they wanted to give me and they knew me better than their parents did!

How much do you spend on a voucher?

£30 on a Next voucher once for a really well liked teacher who made a special effort all year. Usually around £15 for Boots or something.

I'm going to bake something - either KBear's oatmeal and raisin cookes, SuzyWong's choc brownies or my very own edgy malt loaf and put in a nice box/tin.

I am a teacher....and wouldn't expect anything more than a homemade card....and a hug.

We all clubed together when DS1 was in reception, £5 each and got a m&s voucher

How about for pre-school where there isn't one teacher, but several lovely women? Would it be OK to give one big boxof chocolates? Not sure what the protocol is?

There are 6 teachers. Waitrose have some quite sweet tiny pots with hyacinths in. Would one each be a good idea?

i loved wine. best present ever though was when all the parents clubbed together and got me a big voucher for m and s. dont like smellies or flowers personally as the flowers have to be got home and the smellies were not my smell. IYSWIM. also liked it when lovely mummy bought me a lancome mascara. ooh, in posh private school got a pashmina one year- went down well nicest though is a letter from a parent thanking me for all the hard work, cos it is bloody hard work spending all day every day with 30 5 year olds. amazon vouchers always very acceptable, too.

btw, presenting your kids teacher with something your kids have made is not good and will probably end up in the bin. sorry.
