Don't know anything about the rules in respect of benefits tbh. Presumably there are rules somewhere where it either says you must work 24 hours every week, or you must work an average of 24 hours a week over a set period.

So I guess my advice is to find out exactly what it says.

Did you find out what the rules actually say?

Ohmymg · 07/04/2015 07:10

If your wage slips say 24 hours then that's fine.

If it consistently stays at 24 then that's also fine.

Just call if your hours change. Honestly it's fine! (I work for tax credits)

hayleysbabies · 07/04/2015 08:22

they are so complicated its hard to understand what the exact rules are

Is that because you are contracted to do 23 hours and usually do 23 hours but to help you out your employer puts 24 so you qualify for tax credits?
In your head it's ok because you do overtime often anyway?

FeckTheMagicDragon · 07/04/2015 09:54

Your wage slip says 24 hours, you're working 24 hours, so it's fine. Honestly, it is.

hayleysbabies · 07/04/2015 09:57

yes noeuf thats the situation i cover peoples days off sometimes i have overtime sometimes i font but i at least do 52 hours to make up the hour i owe

Can you ask your employer to change your terms to 24? That would seem really simple and take the stress away? At my work we would just fill out a form, get managers approval and send to HR.
It would make you feel better maybe? I can understand why you are stressed, and then you could just do the extra hour every week.

hayleysbabies · 07/04/2015 10:08

this is what i want to ask today but if they say no i dont know what to do

OP posts:
caroldecker · 07/04/2015 10:09

According to this you don't need to work 24 hours unless your DP does nothing.

hayleysbabies · 07/04/2015 10:12

my partner is a full time student

Read from top of pic- this was taken from turn to us website.

Also Google tax credits manual- info is there too.

Have u had your end of year wage slip yet? If so calculate how many hours it equates to.

help and advice please
hayleysbabies · 07/04/2015 11:04

no but it will equate to a minimum wage 24 hour weekly job

Do they not have a helpline or something you can ring if you've checked the rules and they're not clear? You're not going to get a conclusive answer on here.
