the story is far too long and laborious suffice to say it involves a london borough council and the company i work for supposedly working toether to help set up a residents association. the person designated fromt he council is a housing officer and has no experience - i have been brought in half way through the process and have been to two meetings ( those of you who read may remember me asking your advice over whether i was being paranoid at minuteds of said meeting being unfair) anyway, i was asked to comment on the governance document proposed for the association and found that it was a fucking shower of shite. so i went through point by poitn and made suggestions - explaining whilst i went that this was not a document tying statuatory agencies into working with ressies assoc but that it was the GOVERNANCE doc.

anyway fuckwit fella from council said this to an area manager who is a spineless shit

......is custy or custycompany wish to come up with a model which would have involved the same amount of work as producing the e-mail below, then she is free herself to put forward and produce one. the comments below verge on nit picking ( does it really matter if it is a management or other committee?) .....it does actually.. A lot of what custy has written is legalesque pedantry
this may not have been your intention or custycompany intention but having experienced custys approach in meetings and now this i have to question whether her continuin involvement is going to be productive in this project. We need everyone signed up to the process

i think its in our interest to explicitly sign up to this initiative as a committment to joint working. it may not tie in with "model" constitutions but it is the reallity ont he ground.

thats it

right any way i can have the bastard for calling me a nit picking pedant and suggesting i get chucked off the project?

Not exactly - but from what i can see, Custy is working hard on behalf of the residents, but isn't in a position to be able to fight for them, so , aggravating as it is, it might be best not to sacrifice your job to an unwinnable cause.

And ( I know i should be embarrassed to have to ask this) who on earth is Mark Oaten, and why is he to be denied toilet roll, and what is Califig?

Marina · 24/01/2006 16:14

blu, he's a Lib Dem with, ahem, toileting issues! You know, Mr Rent Boy^...

Marina · 24/01/2006 16:15

Califig is what you threaten small boys with if they will not do a poo...(fruit laxative syrup, recommended once by bugsy, tastes cruelly nasty)

Blu · 24/01/2006 16:17

OH HIM! .

Tortington · 24/01/2006 20:53

i know blu ( about the mill bit) i just dont want nasty fekker council jobby man to have the upper hand - i dont know what i'll do - i would have to continue to attend meeting you see and i don't think my pride could take it

Custy, given the zero support from your line manager, you should try to remove yourself from the bully (as I think you know). Can you ask your manager if you can move to another project? If you said "it's that or I leave", what would happen?

Tortington · 25/01/2006 16:40

had the meeting. I prepared well, my director came and she was wonderful. she handled it very very well, pointing out in a non threatening way the obvious and they had to listen - shes a director! she was fab - i got the support - i am so very surprised, director managed bruised egos fantastically and no one felt threatened - i wanted to give her a hig after and say " ta v. much" she is fully aware of the fuckwittedness of the situation but refused to be drawn into name calling and finger pointing in the meeting despite senior management wanting to desperatley. she also made it clear that i wasn't to bother with the detail but rather the overall picture.

i have the utmost admiration for this woman who is very worthy of her position.

and on the walk to her car said "xxxx really is a twat isn't he?"

which kinda made my fcking year!

thanks all for your advice - no doubt the saga isn't over but its been very helpful to have your comments and points of view. Your phrasiology i have plagerised on numerous occasions. all your advice made me think hard and weigh up options. i was in a proper tiz and your input was so invaluable i can't begin to thank you enough

A hig from custy! That would make anyone's day. I know we shouldn't be surprised when a manager backs a patently able team member, but nonetheless, great and welcome news
So pleased for you

Rhubarb · 25/01/2006 21:34

That's my girl! So proud of you mate!

soapbox · 25/01/2006 21:39

Great news Custy!

I imagine you will have made a new ally in the Director! I suspect she recognises quality when she sees it

bootsmonkey · 25/01/2006 21:58

Glad you got the back up you so rightly deserve. Well done for keeping your cool. Was this the director to whom you were supposed to go over your line manager's head who would supposedly back up the f*wit? She can obviously see through the crap!

clerkKent · 26/01/2006 12:38

Fantastic, but beware of future meetings with yer man - if he gets you alone he will bully again, face-to-face or on the phone. You would still be better off out of it, if at all possible.

Prufrock · 26/01/2006 16:57

Custy - just caught up with this, and am very pleased foryou. Though I stil think the brick idea would have been easier....

noddyholder · 26/01/2006 16:59
