tomorrow!!!

Just had a phone call from the nursing home where I applied for a job last week. She called and asked to speak to me, said it was I, and she said who she was, and I was so flustered as I was in the middle of cooking dinner I couldn't think who she was - she remineded me it was about the job, and was I still interested......duh no - course I'm not LOL.

Asked when the best time for an interview was - and told her mornings, because of DH's (well didn't say DH obvsiuly LOL), hours - and she said 12 tomorrow.

OMG - I'm SOOOOOOOOO nervous - haven't had an interview before

Thanks to everyone who helped me fill in the form last week

Right better get back to dinner (if I can concentrate) and hopefully you lot will come up with lots of tips for me

well I hope not Floss - but I bet there's at least a few that have already got their NVQ Level 2.

She did talk quite a bit (well she actually talked quite a lot - most of my questions didn't need to be asked as she did most of the talking - and half the time, unless I wanted to be rude and interupt - I just sat and listened!) about all the training, and asking if I'd be able to make their staff meetings during teh day, and whether it would be feasable for me to attend the 'general' training days they have (during the day) - so hopefully that's a good sign.

If you let em yabber away, they love you. They go away thinking what a great chat they've had and what a nice person you are.

You will definately get it. Especially as it is a great skill of all care givers to be able to listen patiently to endless wittering. Not the only skill of course but a good one.

it was quite funny - she asked if I had any experience of Dementia patients - before I had a chance to answer the question she went on about how they often forget something they've said 5 minutes before - so you may have to answer the same question time and time again - and that some may become agitated.

One example of this she used was a man living in the home who's wife visited him yesterday - 5 minutes after she'd gone he was complaining to the staff that his wife hadn't visited him in months - when the staff member told him that she'd just visited he started ranting and raving that she hadn't visited, and that the staff member was talking rubbish.

Thankfully - (once she'd stopped talking ) I was able to liken it to a 5yr old who spends all morning asking the same question, which you have to keep answering (without getting annoyed) and how quite often a 5yr old didn't like the answer they were given so would get stroppy about it - requiring me to be patient. She laughed and said "oh of course".

We also had a completely off topic chat near the end of the 'interview' (before she showed me round the home) about what instruments I played, as her family is musical too.

Monday/Tuesday feels like such a long way away though
