Woolly Hugs. Making a blanket for lovely Crazyladee and her family. We need help.

You may have heard the dreadfully sad news that Crazyladee’s beautiful son died suddenly aged just 24. Bless his heart. Life has been very cruel to him and them all. We send Crazyladee, his younger brother and their family our love and are so sorry.

We are so glad that she has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, we hope it may give whatever comfort it can. There will be love crafted into every stitch. Crazyladee’s thread is here if you would like to leave a message if condolence.

So we are now asking for help once again

We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) Sincere thanks. If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM us with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, we can help you with all of it. If you have any yarn suitable from us for previous blankets please do use that. We can still get yarn out but it isn’t as straightforward or reliable as one was.

My son's favourite colour is blue, any shade - so please let us make this Woolly Hug a riot of blues.
Adding in silvers too.
Then traditional Goalie colours as accents or for embellishments but not whole squares

His name is Alex - initials are AJT and his absolute favourite lucky number is 22 which was the shirt number of his favourite goalkeeper, Jussi.

Be lovely to have as many 22s as poss in a variety of forms, and we’d be grateful for his name and initials too

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.*

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! The last thing any of us want are squares collapsing once the blanket is with the family.

Because of the current situation re Covid, we have suspended posting to us until after June 1st and because getting yarn out to crafters will take longer we are looking provisionally at a last posting of July 1st.

When posting, it will be the Teddington address, please make sure you add your name and who the squares are for, and if you would like to include a card for Crazyladee’s family, please do, we will pass it on.

Well I appear to have over ordered my yarn!

I kept adding balls to my online basket to qualify for free P&P, consequently I've had plenty of yarn to play with!!

I'll be posting these off on Monday - after reading Crazyladee's posts I was moved to tears and had to get involved.

I can't begin to imagine the pain her family are going through - let's hope the Woolly Hug gives them some comfort from knowing that people do care.

Also apologies to whoever does the construction of this blanket - my "squares" appear to be of varying size and are probably more accurately described as "rectangles"!!!

Parcels have been arriving, what we are doing is storing them for a wee while to hopefully avoid importing the virus into our house ( I know I m paranoid!) then will get about opening and posting. But so many are safely here, thank you xxx
