You may have heard the dreadfully sad news that Crazyladee’s beautiful son died suddenly aged just 24. Bless his heart. Life has been very cruel to him and them all. We send Crazyladee, his younger brother and their family our love and are so sorry. Thanks

We are so glad that she has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, we hope it may give whatever comfort it can. There will be love crafted into every stitch. Crazyladee’s thread is here if you would like to leave a message if condolence.

So we are now asking for help once again Sad Thanks

We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) Sincere thanks. If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM us with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, we can help you with all of it. If you have any yarn suitable from us for previous blankets please do use that. We can still get yarn out but it isn’t as straightforward or reliable as one was.

Thank you so much Thanks

The Colours
My son's favourite colour is blue, any shade - so please let us make this Woolly Hug a riot of blues.
Adding in silvers too.
Then traditional Goalie colours as accents or for embellishments but not whole squares
Brighter green
Yellow - please just use this one - Paton’s merino extra fine DK ‘Canary’ 00121
Oranges, one of these please, Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK - Pumpkin (373) orDebbie Bliss Rialto DK - Tangerine (56) or Debbie Bliss Rialto DK - Burnt Orange (43)

From Crazyladee..
His name is Alex - initials are AJT and his absolute favourite lucky number is 22 which was the shirt number of his favourite goalkeeper, Jussi.

Be lovely to have as many 22s as poss in a variety of forms, and we’d be grateful for his name and initials too

The Yarn we are Using….
Artesano Superwash Merino DK
Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
Drops Merino Extra Fine DK
Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK
Katia Merino 100% DK
King Cole Luxury Merino DK
Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool
Patons Merino Extrafine DK

Just from the brands listed please because we know they combine for wash and wear. If you still have any of our wools that have been discontinued - Rowan Cashsoft DK, Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK or James C. Brett Pure Merino DK in your stash, please do use them.

Our listed yarns are all easily available online - Try Wool Warehouse, Wise Badger, Laughing Hens

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.*

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! The last thing any of us want are squares collapsing once the blanket is with the family.

Because of the current situation re Covid, we have suspended posting to us until after June 1st and because getting yarn out to crafters will take longer we are looking provisionally at a last posting of July 1st.

When posting, it will be the Teddington address, please make sure you add your name and who the squares are for, and if you would like to include a card for Crazyladee’s family, please do, we will pass it on.

Sending so much love Thanks

I've just ordered some canary. If anyone would like some for embellishments, please shout x

BacktoB · 14/05/2020 19:43

yes my love, thank you xxx

Had an idea to try a football shirt with numbers, not sure if I am relieved or disappointed not to do it!

TheNinjaGooseIsHooking · 15/05/2020 07:35

Lovely woolly wool has arrived, thank you Flowers

WitchDancer · 15/05/2020 12:58

Thank you, Woolly treasure has arrived

PurpleFrog · 15/05/2020 19:50

Oh, now I’m confused. I think I misinterpreted the original brief in light of BacktoB’s posts. Do you just want squares with either 22 or letters on them then? No plain squares, or striped, or anything else at all?

KnottyAndPistey · 16/05/2020 10:31

I’m causing confusion. My yes to Back was in that those are the only numbers and initials we have been given

But yes we do also want other squares too @PurpleFrog

Sorry!

Sorry for my part in the confusion.

Will give the shirt a try and see how I get on!

PurpleFrog · 16/05/2020 11:15

Ah, that’s fine! Was a bit concerned that only one of the three I have done was going to be suitable.

BacktoB · 18/05/2020 20:07

Needs to be tidied and blocked, and all the peskies dealt with, but here is the shirt. Hoping it shapes up properly as I sew it to the square.

I've just come across this Woolly Hug and I'd be honoured to be part of this project.

Reading Crazyladee's posts have hit a real nerve with my own family circumstances so I'd be delighted to contribute some squares for the blanket.

I've just placed my order with Wool Warehouse so will be crocheting soon.

Okki · 30/05/2020 22:41

Wow that's fab @ExpletiveDelighted. How long did that take?

ExpletiveDelighted · 31/05/2020 07:40

It took quite a while I must admit, I've never done cross stitch before, so I took my time and have learnt a lot. I don't knit but have been admiring some of the beautiful motifs knitters can produce so thought I'd give it a bash. I worked it out on a grid first. Then there was quite a bit of stitching and unpicking. I'm happy with it though and will use the skills again I'm sure.

KnottyAndPistey · 31/05/2020 16:48

That is simply amazing!
