With heavy hearts we bring the desperately sad news that My5boysandme has lost her precious baby son Dexter. We have offered to make the family a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can to them. We are so pleased that they have accepted. My5boysandme sends thanks to all and is very touched by everyone's kindness and compassion. Here is her original thread Sad

We send My5boysandme all our love and are so sorry for her loss. We are keeping her family close in our thoughts. X

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

If you would like to help in anyway, please post on this thread but also PM me so we know. If you are able to donate, I can match you up with a crafter, or give you our donating information. I will co ordinate, match and deal with any admin. Knotty is here to answer any questions you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks once again Thanks

As in the past, for consistency, the wools we are using are:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK

    4mm knitting needles or hooks
6" squares, as simple or as complex as you like.

    The Colours
Greens, blues, silvers, dark/warm purple and cream.
If choosing cream, we ask that you go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013

Here is our website Do use the Crafting Guide on it to help you with practical info, and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for squares.

Previous blankets can also be seen on the website. We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our FB page then you will get all our updates on our progress via your newsfeed.

So sad that another blanket is needed. Sending much love to My5boysandme and her family, and thinking of baby Dexter.

Glad mine arrived so quickly! That was only posted on Wednesday afternoon second class!

I wish I had discovered those polylope type things before, much lighter than a jiffy envelope!

We are having a meeting of the Glasgow woolly huggers on monday (apologies for the late notice - entirely my fault). If anyone is in the area and would like to come along for knitting, crochet, coffee, cake and great blether - please do! Thread, with details, here.

T'was in Chat Nickel, keep up. Smile

We start in Chat as it's busy, so lots get to see the thread, but the worry is it will disappear in a puff of smoke after so long, so we get them transferred to A&C where they can be safely tucked up for the long term. Families often like to read them and revisit them, as do crafters and donors.

So here we are. All safe.

I always follow my links to it, so never noticed.
I'm glad that you think of that - such a simple gesture, but so meaningful :)

DH has sent mine off. 1st class, so tomorrow fingers crossed.
