Morning BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

Just catching up - My PMs are all fine again....
Going to sort inbox now, just replied to one and it all seems to be working again..

Chip - those are so professional! Lovely squares x

and purling into the back leg Confused and Shock !!!

tribpot · 10/03/2012 08:01

Btw, the pattern is for an 8" square, not a 6". I've gone down to 3.25mm needles but as usual, my tension is so loose it's coming out at the right measurement not a smaller one. I think I might chop out the stitches that form the bit between the outer border and the inner one that surrounds the heart.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/03/2012 08:01

tribpot - Thank you for helping me last night! I really appreciate it. Both of those lovely donors aren't on this thread a great deal and I just wanted them to get the message of safe arrivals. So thank you Thanks

MmeL - I am coming to sort you out now Grin

MinnieBar · 10/03/2012 08:19

Yes I saw it was 8" but I'm knitting on 3.5 needles (which seems to come out at 6" for me with 37 stitches - or at least it did on another pattern). I was planning on cutting out a couple of moss stitch rows top and bottom but maybe I should cut out those pesky holes instead Grin

I am also rubbish at undoing, particularly where trickier stitches are involved. I've undone my 'purl into the back leg' row to find I now have 36 stitches instead of 37? aaarghhh!!

MmeLindor. · 10/03/2012 08:30

Have PMed you back, OnThePiste

Minnie
Did you find a mother-daughter team to feature in the magazine? I would also be interested in a step-by-step first tutorial for young knitters, if any of you would be able to do that. We need pics and explanations. If there were a mum-daughter team, perhaps they could do a short video - you needn't be identifiable. I would really like to feature the work that you guys do, it is incredibly touching. I was talking to my parents last night and told them about the blankets. My dad had tears in his eyes.

All the Flowers in the land to OnThePiste and Knotty for organizing this.

GleamingHeels · 10/03/2012 08:41

Minnie it's official - just finished row 12 and purling those double yo,s is horrible, butTrib's description of purling the front of the first one and the back of the second is spot on. Let us know how you're getting on - you can do this

Unfortunately I am not knitting my heart for this blanket because I don't have enough of the right wool - but I am doing it as moral support for a square (and knitter) that will be for the blanket

tribpot · 10/03/2012 09:06

Undoing a k2tog psso is bloody awful, and I must say I am not looking forward to these purl-in-the-back-of-the-loop things on a double YO. However, first I will need to whack out some stitches in the pattern, fire up the spreadsheet!

GleamingHeels · 10/03/2012 09:26

It is Tribpot, it is - had to undo a whole row of them the first time because I realised I had skipped the K4 after the seed stitch border [idiot]. Time for some more coffee...

Do you think we should have a new thread for the 'heart-off' with Minnie? We might be getting a bit intrusive here where Pistey and Knotty are trying to sort out all their PM problems and reassure crafters and donors about missing wool etc? Happy to start one if you think this is a good idea and also once we have ensured Minnie knows!

tribpot · 10/03/2012 09:49

Yes - I was thinking the same, Gleaming. There's a lot of info about the heart-off which might be better in a chat thread, I shall start one and then we can direct Minnie over to it. We can maybe use it for any other patterns which are giving particular grief too.

tribpot · 10/03/2012 09:57

Heart square thread - step this way Gleaming, Minnie and anyone else who fancies a challenge! I should say, it does say the pattern is 'Intermediate'.

MinnieBar · 10/03/2012 10:09

Oh god I've taken over the thread with my ineptitude Blush

BarbaraWoodlouse · 10/03/2012 10:34

I've fully embraced the plain squares mantra. Though I have to say that my (plain) slip stitch square is shaping up nicely. The cashmerino is so lovely and soft that this rather dense pattern is making a super snuggly square. Smile

Had been planning to try to same one as Minnie next but given that is has its own thread, maybe not Shock

KnottyLocks · 10/03/2012 10:39

Aaaa, gowon Barbara Grin

Right, I am sorting through the 9 parcels that arrived and will be back shortly Smile

My squares will be escorted to the post office this morning so should be with you soon. I have to confess i haven't sewn in my ends, I can't find a needle big enough :( so i am sorry for that.

I am looking forward to seeing the finished article Grin

tribpot · 10/03/2012 10:47

Barbara, we will all be experts in that square by the end of the weekend - embrace the pattern! Grin

Knotty - 9 parcels, wowser!

GlaikitFizzog · 10/03/2012 11:12

I've a confession. I've just noticed my blue wool is baby cashsoft. I didn't realise until I started my second ball. are my squares useless??

Fizzog, as you sent me some treats, I shall not berate you Grin

Compare it to the other wool. How does is feel/look? Normally is different.

There's always one Grin

OP posts:
GlaikitFizzog · 10/03/2012 11:28

It looks and feels the same in the ball but the baby is springier when knitted. probably hides my tension issues better if I'm honest.

KnottyLocks · 10/03/2012 11:50

I find alcohol hides my tension better.

OP posts:
KnottyLocks · 10/03/2012 11:51

Anyhoooo, carry on. When you post them can you just remind me of the baby cash bit. I may do a wash comparison before using them. If that's ok with you.

GleamingHeels · 10/03/2012 11:51

Come on Barbara, it's not so bad - well four rows of it are quite hard...

GlaikitFizzog · 10/03/2012 12:10

You already have them knotty!!

Molehillmountain · 10/03/2012 12:13

Grin glad they arrived safely. Am just having a quiet moment after mad morning and have a Smile on my face. If you knew me you'd know how exciting it is to have completed a project before a deadline Wink

GlaikitFizzog · 10/03/2012 12:26

If it makes any difference the "ingredients" are the same. 57% Extra fine merino 33% acrylic microfibre and 10% cashmere.
