Morning everyone Brew

MinnieBar · 21/03/2012 13:10

Ah Gleaming, that's very kind but there's no way I could have done either my heart square or the tree square without the combined might of Team Heart behind me (or, literally telling me what to do in trib's case) - so they were very much team efforts, and thus very appropriate for the blankets!

Mine are posted. Hope they are blanket-able.

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 21/03/2012 17:25

I got cross with my squares so I started again, with a more simple pattern.
I will be finished in time to post them all on Monday though, I might even post them on Saturday.

I wished I'd not tried to do something so complicated at first as the pattern I am dong now is much easier. Grin

I have been worrying all week that I wouldn't get them posted in time, but I only have 4 inches to go now!

Where do i post them too?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/03/2012 17:30

FruitShoots, am pMing you now Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/03/2012 17:30

and Chipmonkey - yours are lovverly, what are you like??!! Grin

chipmonkey · 21/03/2012 17:42

Well, you see, Pistey, they are not as square as I would have liked. And I had visions of something a lot better before I did the Care Bear, that was my third and much-simplified attempt.

TimeForCake · 21/03/2012 17:54

Good lord, the care bear is a-maz-ing! Envy

Personally, I am still muttering Knotty's mantra.
You'd think my squares would improve with practise wouldn't you? not so far Grin

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 21/03/2012 18:02

I tried a care bear. But there were too many colour changes in my pattern and I was ending up with lots of thread ends and it was just taking too long so I gave up Sad
I thought mine might have been too messy at the back with all the loose ends.
Yours is fab Chipmonkey

Thanks for the PM Piste I shall post them asap!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/03/2012 18:07

I didn't try to make a Care Bear.......

Grin
RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/03/2012 18:09

and FruitShoots, you are welcome!

Pleiades45 · 21/03/2012 18:11

Knotty, I've posted more squares to you, they should arrive tomorrow.

Out of interest - how many squares do you use? and how long does it take to join them? You crochet them together with a double crochet, is that right??

I usually quilt, and now I'm in a knitting phase I'm thinking of a new project of my own - hence the questions.

TimeForCake · 21/03/2012 18:24

Pistey I would love to see your care bear!

Mind you, I'll be laughing on the other side of my face if I don't get a move on with my next square. Knows damn well her eyes would glaze over at the first line of a pattern, care bear or otherwise.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/03/2012 18:46

Cakey, have you actually started it yet?!

TimeForCake · 21/03/2012 18:50

Errr...I have done about an inch so far. At best! Shock Blush
You?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/03/2012 18:54

erm.............

PurplePidjin · 21/03/2012 18:57

Pleiades, there are 4 squares per square foot. 12x8 gives a Blanket 6'x4' which is plenty for a family snuggle, that's 96 squares.

I (and I think knotty does too) work lengthwise first. So, take two squares, place right sides together, dc through edges. That puts the ridge on the back, wrong sides together puts it on the front. The only important thing is to do them all the same. Keep adding squares in pairs until you reach the desired length. Then carry on the same adding a row of squares to one ofvthe rows you've already done. When you've done all the rows you want, dc along the columns - this bits loads easier ime because the tension is already set. Dc or HTC around the edge with 3 sts in each corner, or one of my little hearty hobbies (let me know if you want the pattern)
