There is irony in me starting this second thread for you lovely Blanket Makers, as I'm the least crafty person, but I'm doing it to help Pidj Smile

Which one, Knotty?

Report
KnottyLocks · 18/06/2011 07:50

I think it's the silver square with the pink blobby poopy thing top left although bit tricky to tell. Can't imagine many others would've done the same though so chances are it's 'cat poop' Grin

I should've taken a pic of it so you could see it in all its glory and be awe inspired Wink Hell, I may even post the pattern for cat poop-flowers.

Erm, apologies to anyone if that is in fact their square. I'm sure your square is beautiful. Smile

Cat-poop-square prefers natural lighting and being shot from above by Mario Testino using a rose tinted filter. It denies any claims that it is pretentious, vain and prone to narcissism.

Pidgy - it is so beautiful. What an enormous amount of work from you and from everyone. She will love and treasure it. So bless you!

The blanket is lovely. Thank you for all your hard work. Will keep eyes open for any more woolly shout-outs. Lets hope not for a long time.

Second that whole-heartedly, Trumpton.

Keep an eye out for the raffle...could take us a while yet to sort it, but something will happen at some point [determined].

Pretty (I think, the posts on a different page!) I put 2 squares right sides together then double crocheted into the edge of both. Most of the squares were different sizes but a similar number of stitches with tighter or looser tension. So instead of going into the matching place on the length, I could go into the matching stitch. Skip a couple in the middle to even it out, and you end up with 2 squares crocheted together.

It kind of never occured to me to do it any other way, because my mind works symmetrically. I wouldn't have coped if I'd attached them by length not stitch (does any of this make sense?)

I have 57 spare squares so I'll make 7 more and make the blanket for Charity over the next week or two. Including my special should-be-patented MumsNet Heart Edging Grin

If anybody wants a cuppa I'm on north weald air strip (essex/m25) in a blue t3 camper van which has my username in the passenger windscreen Grin drag racing starts at 10 and it's Run What You Brung so speed freak daddies with Ayrton Senna dreams can have a go! Show n Shine is shaping up nicely and there's a couple of spectacular-looking bouncy things going up to my right Grin

Knotty they look like Mackintosh roses to me Angry and I'd like to put the pattern on my blog (and credit you) if it's yours to share?

Lovely! How do I tag a square?

Report
KnottyLocks · 20/06/2011 17:52

Yes, Mackintosh roses was exactly the look I was going for Wink

Not my pattern, I'm afraid; something in a book I've got.
They added sequins to some of theirs but a) a bit too much faff for me and b) sparkly in this house is for drinking.

I'll have a quick look to see re copyright.

Report
purplepidjin · 20/06/2011 18:10

Usually it's bottom left of the pic? Feel free to like so you can tag then unlike once it's done

Also feel free to look around and buy stuff - I'll be going pt soon and need MimaPants to take off so I can eat buy shoes oh fuck what am I doing

I'm not a facebook bod so can't tag mine: I shall remain an anonymous and mysterious muppet artist.

Oi Pidj, I know you've got plenty of wool, but Trumpton (Up here ^^^) wants to send you a few squares. I think you should take her up on the offer.

I've just been on the phone to the Gambling Commission to try and work out if we can do this raffle. They think it probably falls under a Small Society Lottery, although they said it is quite a grey area as we aren't a charity but are aiming to raise funds and are planning to do so via the internet so we should get legal advice.
We will need to register with a Local Authority for a small fee (they couldn't tell me what this was). This is where it gets more complicated but looks like the authority would need to be the one which the main admin person is in. I'm going to start a thread in Legal to see if we can get a specialist on board.

Whatever, we will need to have a set 'raffle ticket' price, say £1 or £2.

Would it be worth picking a charity first? They may have the infrastructure already in place for stuff like this Hmm

Report
KnottyLocks · 21/06/2011 11:43

Possibly! Do you want to do it by voting on a separate thread or shall we just go with what we think?

Report
purplepidjin · 21/06/2011 11:56

I like the idea of a MN vote but it might prolong things too much between that and the actual raffle.

We're all pretty unanimous on Winston's Wish iirc?

I'll work on a couple of runner up prizes once the blanket's done - tiny teddies maybe? Fron the miles of leftover wool Grin
