A friend whose 18-year-old lesbian daughter attended Swansea Mini-Pride today has reported that her daughter returned home after only 15 minutes. The daughter was mobbed — her word — by furries and found the whole thing scary. She had no idea whether it was men or women in the outfits and was creeped out by it. When she pushed one of them away firmly and said no, a couple of women passing by said that there was no need to be like that. She got out of there as quickly as she could.

That poor young woman. And as for the passers-by: the age old “don’t be a nasty girl, he’s only being nice to you” 🤮

Well done for her saying NO, though.

I’m aware this thread is a bit old but haven’t found anything more recent.

My DD in Y7 came home asking about furries, as it was mentioned in a PSHE presentation in lesson. So am wondering now exactly what guidance her school is following and if I should ask for more information about how they are teaching this to them.

Yes you should ask - and well done for being concerned. . You could have a look at their website - check whether the school is a Stonewall Champion or has lots of mentions of gender ideology - that will give you a clue whether this is a major concern or just a small issue.

The government has told schools that they must share details of what's taught in Ses Relationships education so they should be quite willing to explain.
It may be an innocent question from a child that led to a discussion - or might be that she's being taught all the 100 genders nonsense with a programme that's been outsourced to one of the dodgy organisations.

Safe Schools Alliance is always a useful resource with lots of advice about how to talk to schools:

She said it was on a PowerPoint slide - so was not just something that came up in class discussion.

I need to think carefully how I word my email.

That's depressing - but makes it clear that the school are teaching contested gender ideology to 11 year olds. 😡

Another completely "non article" by the Daily Fail, where it admits that previous stories about kids identifying as cats was a hoax and it can give no examples of furies turning up to the school gate!

Must be Friday and a slow news day, but will ensure those pearl clutches out there get triggered further. Oh Lordy Lord!

Daily Mail by now is like the Nation Enquirer surely - hardly a place I would go for actual news facts.

Surely other things in the world more important? Oh no! Lols. Thanks for the share!

Ah see the story is from April. Well give them that one....

If it’s not a sexual thing why are they at Pride events?

I think it is a spectrum? I have no idea what proportion of them just really like unicorns, and what proportion of them are perverts.

Obviously the perverts should be nowhere near a school, and I am struggling to see why anyone who just really likes unicorns, sonic the hedgehog or cats needs to be able to express that in school when goths etc can’t. So I have no issue whatsoever with schools knocking this on the head. But not every single person in a cat costume is a fetishist. Look at ComicCon. Some people just like dressing up.

Here you are @Rainyskies & all other parents having to challenge this bullshit in schools, piece by piece. The parent in this thread made a small step in pushing back biological nonsense in their child's school.
We just all have to do this:
