JKR response to Stonewall CEO comments

Just posted on X by JKR in response to Stonewall CEO comments re wanting to take the ‘heat’ out of the debate around trans …..even though their slogan was ‘ no debate’.

A lot of us were very willing to have a debate without heat, @stonewalluk, and the reason that never happened wasn't because gender critical feminists didn't want one.
While we were trying to get you to listen to our concerns, your former CEO was telling a BBC boss that gay people not wanting to include the opposite sex in their dating pool was 'sexual racism'. While we were pointing out the homophobia inherent in gender ideology, Stonewall ambassador Alex Drummond (a bearded, heterosexual man who'd had no surgery and taken no cross-sex hormones but liked wearing skirts), was going into schools to talk to students about his 'lesbian' identity. @BluskyeAllison, who actually is a lesbian, was subject to unlawful discrimination at her place of work for tweeting: ‘Stonewall recently hired Morgan Page, a male bodied person who ran workshops with the sole aim of coaching heterosexual men who identify as lesbians on how they can coerce young lesbians into having sex with them. Page called [it] “overcoming the cotton ceiling”.’
When the UK Supreme Court upheld women's right to single sex spaces, you issued a statement expressing your unhappiness about the ruling. In her report on your unhappy influence at the University of Essex, you were found by barrister @akuareindorf to have misrepresented the law as it related to women's rights: '[Stonewall have] stated the law as Stonewall would prefer it to be, rather than the law as it is’.
In 2018, you publicly advised schools to shred a research pack saying there were risks to puberty blockers, in spite of the fact that you aren't a medical charity and that there was already credible evidence that puberty blockers are neither irreversible nor harm-free. Meanwhile you produced your own educational packs, recommending a children's book, for ages 5-9, in which the parent 'is neither a man, nor a woman – they’re non-binary.' In July 2022, Stonewall sent out a tweet that read ‘Research suggests that children as young as two recognise their trans identity'.
^@thetimes has reported how you've sought to control the language used by NHS trusts and government on their social-media accounts. Organisations would get points from you for replacing commonly understood words with ideologically approved terms, eg, 'birthing parent' instead of 'mother'. thetimes.com/uk/society/art…^
In short, you took a maximalist position on gender identity ideology, which you attempted to enforce by diktat. You refused to acknowledge that you'd hitched your wagon to a cause that, unlike civil rights, gay rights or women's rights, sought to strip rights from others. You sought to curtail everyone's right to freedom of speech and belief by controlling what it was permissible to think and say, through the management and political class. You have argued against women's and girl's rights to their own spaces, their sports and to assemble without men. Your CEO tried to shame gay women/men into dating the opposite sex if the latter claimed to be female/male.
Your mantra was 'no debate' because, like all totalitarians, you preferred slogans, bullying and infiltration of powerful institutions to talking to opponents. You appear to have had no concern for the lowly people your ideology was harming: gender confused kids, female rape victims, female prisoners, regular people hounded and investigated at their places of work for refusing to accept the new mandates on sex and gender issued from on high.
Your 'activism' has been a disaster for those trans-identified people who really do just want to get on with their lives in peace. You have besmirched the name of an organisation many of us were once proud to donate to, the charity that was partly responsible for securing the legal right of gay people to marry, which a lot of us thought would never happen in our lifetimes. The milquetoast words quoted below do not erase a decade of gender activism that has been disastrous not only for individuals but for society as a whole.
There was once a debate to be had, but until you acknowledge the direct harm you've caused, it is no more possible to debate you than to persuade a person in the throes of a drug-induced psychosis that they are not, in fact, the reincarnated Christ.

It's funny that people are still trying to play "When was she ever transphobic" about this lady and then she bangs out another screed about "bearded men in skirts" and "male-bodied people"

So? Where is the lie?

The receipts are all there. The same technology used to spread this incorrect belief system can be used to take it down. All these organisations wanting to deny their part in this will come up against saved text, screenshots, and files of all the lies they have pushed over the last decade. None better to use her words to hold them to account than JKR. 💐

There is something rather delicious about the weapons they used being turned back at them.

Almost as funny as why you can't work out that these aren't good things !!😅

No transphobia there. Just concern for the damage done to the very people the Stonewall activists claimed to care so much about.

Kalalily · Yesterday 18:14

Thanks for the thread @BlueLegumeThe hypocrisy of Stonewall is unbelievable. The CEO said in that ‘turning down the heat’ article that “You don’t need to be changed. You’re good enough”. Yet there they are supporting people to take hormones and have surgery and make irreversible changes And so many well intentioned people link Stonewall as a supportive charity without realising what they really stand for nowadays.

cryupmykingdom · Yesterday 18:16

For homosexual people in the UK, it's no longer clear what Stonewall is for.

The name ought to always have been a clue perhaps - the event evoked has nothing much to do with British homosexuality, and occurred after substantial decriminalisation had already occurred in this country.

Their annual conference did permit people from Sex Matters to attend, I think Maya Forstater was at a talk I went to ?

But notably, no actual discussion after presentations and during workshops was permitted.

So the answer for them, anyway, after For Women Scotland, seems to be to state their piece & deny anyone else a say.

While clearly, simultaneously knowing that things aren't great, and trying to throw out feelers in the sector. Do they fear what is coming ? A chance for staff to network & find other roles ?

It's true they appeared shellshocked. But aren't they supposed to be aware of trends in their own sector? Why are they surprised?

Is restructure or wind-down in the offing?

I mean I would agree it’s slightly stirring to use the phrase like men in dresses as opposed to transgender males or whatever

she does have a good way with words

Wonderful woman and a wonderful piece.

I've been looking at the replies under her post and the majority are supportive and massively grateful. Many of the basement dwellers who post their sour comments are nowhere to be seen - tho no doubt they'll whine at some stage.

Here's Magdalen Berns's brilliant video about Alex Drummond. 'Bearded man in a skirt' is an accurate description. Nothing transphobic in that.

JKR is brilliant, and as always, a well researched, intelligently written, articulate response.

MyDpsanarse · Yesterday 18:30

Stonewall helped to achieve what was needed for gay and lesbian people, if they'd left it there we would have applauded them. Instead of seeing they'd achieved their objectives they realised they'd now become unneeded and desperately searched around for a reason to go on, not for the good of others but to keep their jobs.
It's amazing how hypocritical they are, MN asked over and over for an honest debate on trans issues and they wouldn't go there, they felt untouchable. Well the time for debate is over, they had their chance

The transwoman she's referring to, Alex Drummond, is quite literally a bearded man who wears skirts. And being "male-bodied" is again, quite literally, the only prerequisite for being a transwoman, so how is that transphobic?

This trans woman wants to broaden how people think about gender

Alex Drummond hopes her visibility in her home city of Cardiff will help broaden people's minds around what men and women are 'supposed' to be

Let us await India Willoughby’s response. Thank you for such positive comments. I did shed a tear when I read JKRs post. I have been finding a lot of the trans stuff and the Matthew Rattley stuff really unsettling. The Sam Hall stuff in Brighton and the case against Sarah Redvers. Sandie Peggie, Jennifer Melle, Darlington Nurses. The awful Andrea Egan a union leader selling women down the river in support of trans ( oh and Palestine). Andrea Egan should be firmly on the side of women. I will guarantee she benefited from her ancestors-working class women fighting to ensure she could rise up to the dizzy heights of running a union. Oh, and not forgetting the Conversion Therapy bill. Amazing people like Dennis, Helen and Dermot fighting to safeguard children and parents.

Thinking of my grand children and how I can protect them and safe guard them from this ideology.

JKR put out her piece today just as I needed it. I was losing faith in realty.

It's a pity there's a typo in JKR's tweet. Irreversible when I'm sure she means reversible. But apart from that, it's excellent.
