Russell T Davies says I called him "a paedophile and a groomer" in this. It's a lie. I did call him a groomer, because he used Doctor Who to push gender ideology, in which no child would believe unless an adult had planted it in his or her head.

And I just find it disingenuous from him. It's no secret I don't love his decent into more, let's call it, aggressive strategies on social media, but they are now coming home to roost and won't be good for any of us.

The word Groomer has a very specific history when it comes to CSA so to use it as often as he (and other) do and then claim you don't mean it in the very well accepted way is always meant just doesn't sit right with me.

Is there a term we can use that isn't sp precariously close to slandering someone as a Child sex abuser?

Here is the article he is referring to in the tweet

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2026/oct/03/russell-t-davies-interview-doctor-who-fierce-fandom-love-grief

‘One person turned up at my house’: Russell T Davies on fierce fandom, finding love after grief - and the fear that drives him to keep a knife by the door

He’s the titan of TV who revived a flatlined Doctor Who and turned British queer life into jaw-dropping drama. But the screenwriter’s groundbreaking writing has sometimes made him a target of hate – from homophobes and Whovians alike

You suggest he said something untrue for effect? Shocked I tell you, shocked

In inclusive toilet design videos and lectures from America, hailed as being part of a civil-rights movement, the designers have zone areas. There’s a grooming zone.

😁

Yeah he bends like a reed, depending on what the argument is at the moment.

Constant contradictions and silly remarks that he hopes will piss women off.

It's depressing that there are so many men who are exactly like this. (All his pointless name changes, not withstanding).

You know what? Neither I, nor anyone I know, would have a clue what Glinner was saying if 'gender critical as they come' people concerned for the reputation of GC women didn't keep posting about it.

Edited

I know right! I literally never think of him or see his tweets unless someone brings it up on here.

I'm not sure what OP wants us to do about the language being used by some random bloke in another country.

'Groomer' is a particularly American 'thing' and I do think its casual use on social media is inflammatory, even if a lot of what goes on in 'trans' circles is effectively the grooming of young people.

Please link to your so called evidence as I've yet to see any that shows any such thing that can stand up to proper scientific scrutiny

Their research goes to another school.

RobynMiller · 04/10/2026 19:11

But the vast, VAST majority is. Do you think RTD is guilty of grooming children?

The use of the word 'groomer' is inflammatory - though it is much used in the U.S and reflects the extreme polarisation in U.S politics.

The debate here on MN is much more nuanced, though I agree that a lot of what effectively happens on social media in trans circles is the effective grooming of young people into a world view and a way of framing their identities in a specific way... one which can lead to much confusion and harm.

Shortshriftandlethal · 05/10/2026 10:08

RobynMiller · 04/10/2026 20:00

I don't believe that someone who has no direct contact with the child in question is a groomer.

Dr. Who the tv show can't on it's own groom children. It's like back in the day when people believed Brittney Spears was grooming their daughters into whores. You are responsible for what your children watch on screens, if someone in real life takes advantage then it's a different situation but no I don't think you can groom someone you have never even met.

Young people are absolutely groomed via the intenet. They are manipulated by older actors and taken advantage of. There are multiple incidents of children being sexually groomed on-line. encouraged to expose themselves and/or send intimate photos etc. Older men stalking sites on which young people are known to congregate.

But 'grooming' it is not just about direct sexual abuse, it can also be about being nurtured and encouraged to start identifying as 'trans' - being bombarded with transition stories and images of other young women, for example, showing off their mastectomy scars; pretty much in the same way you get pro-ana sites or self harm communities.

Gender Critical feminism IS feminism.

It's not like fake feminism where you put the men first
Or fake inclusivity where you scare the shit out of Jewish people.
Or the definition a Norovirus journalist gave for communism which looks just like ultra capitalism.
Or this progressive man shite that tells women that they've now got equality despite all the evidence to the contrary.

I think there's a lot of people who now see straight through this shite and amazingly manage to not be far right nutjobs either.

But still, I'm sure you will carry on and hijack the entire thread at this point because it's all about you talking over actual women.

Fabulous.

Gender critical feminism belongs to the strand of feminism called Dominance Feminism where power dominates women's behaviour & whilst that's true its only true to a certain extent that is more relevant historically & in less egalitarian cultures as opposed to the modern west. That it is their all encompassing go to denies female agency….which is an incredibly dangerous regression in terms of female rights. The idea women don't know their own minds particularly because of their alleged vulnerability to emotion has its roots in patriarchal ideology. It essentially places women in weaker psychological position than men infantilising them as eternally vulnerable to their manipulation. If any of this was at all true the feminist resistance wouldn't exist. It denies women's proven ability to recognise their own needs & authenticity that underpinned the fight for feminism.

Gotta make use of that Gender Studies Degree somehow...

I can't express enough how utterly hilarious it is to pretend women should accept male risk because of agency.

😆

The drivel these MRAs come up with

That reads, very curiously, like it has come from an AI tool that has been fed a very slanted question.

And what we need is...men in our spaces and to tell us what words we should use for ourselves?

Crikey. Who knew that's all feminism needed?

Anyway, back to the grooming.

My images are still under approval, apparently.

This is the one I can copy.

Pride season is well underway, we are trying to be at as many as possible to reach out, especially vulnerable teens with no parental support

i mean I don't know who does their comms PR, but bloody hell.

Lol, individual agency IS relevant to grooming being a vaild concept. But I get how that its inconvenient.

Datun · 05/10/2026 10:30

The whole point of grooming is it overrides individual agency. It doesn't mean women should accept risk, because you think that makes them stronger

Datun · 05/10/2026 10:32

Howse, What sort of agency do you think mermaids considered when they were looking for vulnerable teens with no parental support?

The very foundations of the question that was fed into AI are faulty. It reads like whoever framed the initial question didn't really understand what is the true motivation or foundation in the rejection of trans ideology.

It seems to incorectly presume, like most trans activists, that women here want to return to outdated gender stereotypes and into rejecting the supposed liberation of " being your true self" that is supposed to be enabled by identifying as trans.

It represents an junior school level of sociological analysis...and I know that because I have a degree in Sociology myself.

What a bizarre connection that can only come down to an irrational obsession. The point being made was whether women can exercise individual agency not whether they should accept male risk because of it.
