I suppose you could at least praise them for their staying power at the looney-bar. They've come right out with it now though, no mincing about the edges of vague #BeKind nice-speak.

(Interesting to note they STILL don't get the EHRC guidance only serves the ACTUAL LAW though, withdrawn, live or written in Swahili)

Give biological men legal right to compete in women’s sport, say Greens
Motion for conference claims current rules rooted in ‘historical colonial and Eurocentric attitudes’ and ‘transmisogyny’

The Green Party would give biological men a legal right to compete in women’s sports under proposals drawn up by its members.

The plans, which could become party policy within weeks, would “extend trans people’s rights” so they can compete in the categories “they feel most comfortable in”.

The proposals have been submitted for debate at the Green Party conference in October, as an amendment to another motion calling for an end to “gender-based blanket bans” in sport.

Under new government guidance published this year, public bodies must ensure sports teams are segregated based on biological sex, not gender identity.

Several sporting bodies – which set the official rules for UK competitions – have also updated their policies after the Supreme Court ruled last April that the words “woman” and “sex” in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological woman and biological sex.

Proponents say the changes are necessary to protect the integrity of women’s sports and keep female athletes safe.

However, the Green Party motion warns that sporting bans at “any level” have “serious consequences” for the physical and mental health of trans people. It also suggests that rules against biological men competing in female categories are rooted in “historical colonial and Eurocentric attitudes”, as well as “transmisogyny”.

The motion ‘Oppose Gender-Based Blanket Bans in Sport’ was submitted by Melissa Harker, the Greens’ first openly transgender councillor in the North East
In the long term, the amended motion urges the party to “legislate to protect and extend trans people’s rights to participate in sports in the gender categories they feel most comfortable in”.

In the short term, it calls for the Greens to campaign against “the complete or near-complete exclusion” of trans people from competing “in line with their lived gender” in any professional sport.

The original version of the motion – titled “Oppose Gender-Based Blanket Bans in Sport” – has been approved for debate at the Green Party conference in October. However, the likelihood of it being heard depends on where it falls on the final agenda.

It was submitted by Melissa Harker, the Greens’ first openly transgender councillor in the North East, and was backed by 48 members. The amendment, which was proposed by Anna Di Bona, has 11 supporters – including Harker.

The synopsis states: “Sport allows people to stay physically and mentally healthy. Sporting bans at any level, especially attacking trans people, have serious consequences for gender diverse and global majority peoples’ mental and physical health. We need to stop blanket bans, and hold sporting bodies accountable.”

The motion calls for all sporting bodies that have introduced bans against trans athletes – either directly or indirectly – to “publicly disclose all scientific evidence they based this decision on”.

It also demands an independent inquiry into the development of recent blanket bans “to ensure transparency and compliance with equalities obligations”.

The Green Party has already called for the withdrawal of the official guidance on single-sex sports teams, which was issued by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) earlier this year.

Claire Coutinho, the shadow equalities minister, said: “The Green Party’s refusal to accept that there are biological differences between men and women will only serve to erase women’s spaces and women’s sports.

“Women shouldn’t be forced to compete against anyone who has a sex-based advantage in sport. It undermines fairness in sports and puts women’s safety at risk. We must have boundaries that protect women and girls from harm.”

A Green Party spokesman said: “The Green Party believes that the EHRC guidance should be withdrawn, and that trans women are women, trans men are men and that non-binary identities exist and are valid.”

'Fuck that', say women.

Oh yes 100 times

MrsOvertonsWindow · 31/08/2026 17:14

They can't help exposing their fuckwittery can they? 2,500 comments and counting - most seem to mention clowns and the lack of any real green policies. 😂

AstonCanKissMyArse · 31/08/2026 20:30

JFC green party, no one is 'banned'.

Fuck off, to the fat side of fuck, and when you get there, fuck off some more!

And as for that Euro centric bollox, that sounds like they're saying that non western people didn't understand how to reproduce until the good ole western colonists showed them what's what and how to ID men from women. Surely that can't be what they mean? Sounds terribly patronising and er racist really.

TL:DR- don't vote green, theyre batshit and have bog all to do with the environment.

Messedupmyusernameagain · 31/08/2026 22:07

I think patronising and racist just about sums it up really.

Dependsoncontext · 31/08/2026 22:10

Surely that would end biological women's sport.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 31/08/2026 22:20

funny thing is - I've always thought that if you truly believe that 'transwomen are women' then it is perfectly logical for you to argue that transwomen should be allowed to compete in women's sports. If you spout 'transwomen are women' but think that they shouldn't be allowed in women's sports then you are tacitly admitting that transwomen are, in fact, not women and that there are differences between the two groups...

To be fair that is not Green policy.

The way the Green Party is run lets any idiot put forward any motion they like to be voted on at conference to become policy.

It think it's bad enough that the party appears to be made up of cranks, but I'll wait for the outcome of the vote to decide how bad they actually are.

I think they're quickly making themselves look unelectable.

Going by our green councillors in Bristol, this sort of policy is fairly normal thinking for them, it’s not a fringe thought confined to certain idiots. They will walk out and refuse to even listen to their constituents asking about when Bristol council will be compliant with the equality act and follow EHRC guidance here.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn513wxrr3xo. Those holding the signs are our actual councillors , not members of the public.

A small crowd of people sat in a public gallery at a council meeting. Many people are holding up banners and flags. Some of the banners say "protect the dolls", "trans men are men" and "trans people exist". Nobody is looking at the camera.

transwomen are women

It's THE perfect slogan. It's memorable, it's simple, it's three words, there's a kind of semantic resolution to it, the repetition of "women" gives it a comfortable rhythm, it's expressing a type of equal treatment serving sounds just and fair.

Unfortunately it's not true, and taking it to its logical conclusions leads its proponents into all sorts of unsustainable bollocks, which at some level which that they can't admit to, they must realise is absurd.

It is not a bug, it is a feature. The more absurd the claim, the better to demonstrate the fervor of your commitment to some men's need to claim women's rights the one true belief

caringcarer · Yesterday 00:35

Yet more loony left policies. Women will get seriously hurt or even die if this was to happen. Remember the boxer who loved beating up women.

LeftieRightsHoarder · Yesterday 02:23

The only slightly surprising thing about this is that they’re finally saying the secret bit out loud.

The whole transgenderist project has always been a male supremacist attack on women. (That’s not in the least left-wing, and I have no idea why any socialist would support it.)

It’s been so successful that they no longer feel the need to pretend that some men believe they are women, and therefore are special and fragile and must be pandered to. Now they are openly demanding that women give up everything to any man who wants to take it.

At last, a shred of honesty. Perhaps only because they now feel invincible. But fortunately, as the whole project is based on lies, each glimpse of reality will hasten the day when it all comes crashing down.

On the Eurocentric point, I would recommend reading this article by Mana Wahine Korero, who are pushing back against gender ideology in NZ: The "Sex Spectrum" Myth Fails History and Science. See also their submission on the current draft legislation, which includes this

6.1 Asserting Independent Sovereign Authority under He Whakaputanga

Article 1 of He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni 1835 establishes the independent sovereign authority and leadership of our rangatira. Article 2 directly reinforces this basis by asserting that foreign entities are not permitted to frame laws (wakarite ture) within our territories.
The current framework of administrative legal self-identification does not stem from our heritage; it represents a foreign lobby agenda engineered by global corporate law networks and systematically exported into local statutes. Imposing an artificial legal fiction that completely detaches the legal definition of “woman” from physical, material reality compromises our traditional lineage, confuses our customs, and breaches the sovereign independent criteria protected under He Whakaputanga.

Awful stuff, the language is ridiculous and insulting. We’ll see their vote.

unsync · Yesterday 07:29

More fuckwittery from them. If they devoted as much effort to climate issues, what with them supposedly being green and all, maybe they would be electable. It is so disappointing that they've veered so far off course. Meanwhile, the country literally burns.

roseyposey · Yesterday 07:34

That article on NZ looks really interesting @legalalien - thank you.

Wonder how the Greens would respond to it?

We have been looking forward to the conference on the Sexist Greens thread for a while now.

Other motions which might get debated include one motion is proposing rationing meat. Also limiting foreign travel. The one talking of banning Police from having tasers seems to have been stopped though.

The big drama is the anti-Israel motion which failed to pass in the Spring conference and targets Israel as uniquely awful and to higher standards than other countries. and says it shouldn't exist effectively. It is clearly pretty racist. The Greens already have a stance calling for peace and a two state solution. This however is something else clearly pretty racist. Zack Polanski himself is opposed to it so we can expect serious arguments over it again.

There is also an anti NATO motion.

The thing is the various factions in the party are going to crash hard in the conference. The Gaza faction which is semi headed by Mothin Ali, the deputy leader under investigation for misappropriating Leeds Council funds, thinks that Gaza and Israel is the most important thing for the Greens. The Gaza faction includes leftists across the party including many TAs.

The issue is the smaller Muslim Greens faction and Mothin Ali himself clearly do not believe that the "UK Trans Genocide" is that important or even exists. They want the TAs to back them on their motions but will double cross them and prevent motions like this one on banning women's sport from being debated. Obviously I suspect some of the Muslim Greens don't believe in women's sports either but for different reasons.

Along side this there are the old school Greens who want to focus on environmental matters, there is also the pesky feminists faction who want to talk about women in the UK for at least some of the time and don't realise talking about men being violent abroad or banning women's sports is the most important thing. So expect sparks to fly especially if the TAs realise they are being side-lined by the Muslims.

Zack Polanski is making things bigger yet again so another thread needed. Well things have developed rather a lot since the start. ZP started out as...

They also seem oblivious to the fact that women who identify as trans also rely on female sports categories to compete.

Yes but you see, there's the Holy category of Trans (males) and then there's the lowly category of Trans (females)

zanahoria · Yesterday 16:19

Most sports are eurocentric and rooted in colonialism but that does not stop African nations loving football

Pibblegirls · Yesterday 16:21

What are the loonies up to now eh…?

That’s what I think when I hear the Green Party say pretty much anything and I think 99% of the general populace feel the same, I shouldn’t worry!

borntobequiet · Yesterday 16:35

Hopefully Polanski will stand in Starmer’s seat so he can be asked repeatedly about this and all their other batshit policies 👍

Thelnebriati · Yesterday 21:55

Do the Greens realise they'd have to re-write the Gender Recognition Act, not just the Equality Act?

Wishesandhorses · Yesterday 22:54

And a number of other laws, sex is across multiple of them. Fuck with it, and a whole lot of law stops making any rational sense.

It would be a mammoth task to unpick equality and legal protections for women and gay people.

And that's if you could convince the electorate that male supremacism and undoing equality so that men can force themselves on non consenting women in a state of undress is some kind of a 'good thing'.

I'm struggling a bit with this. Sport often has categories for reasons of fairness. Sometimes those categories are Male/Female or more recently sometimes Open/Female. Male participants obviously do not belong in and should not compete in the female division. Also in mixed sex competitive sports such as Korfball or mixed athletics, slots that are assigned for only female competitors (obviously) should not be taken by males. Firstly and most importantly those mixed sports are there to increase inclusion and participation for females and secondly for reasons of fairness to the other teams which are abiding by the mixed sex rules correctly.

There are sports like Roller Derby which are very inclusive of males playing alongside females - that's up to the organisations and teams concerned, and I have no issue with that.
