So… you have nothing.

As expected.

Why do I keep wanting to misuse the "support" reaction sarcastically?

The bigotry is more regarding the implication of harmful stereotypes against trans people as either transitory 'tom boys' or dangerous predators.

Its indeed interesting that those who purport to be against harmful stereotypes, certainly don't mind applying them when convenient.

"In an attempt to demonstrate her understanding of where transgender people are coming from, Rowling even says she too might have considered transitioning had the option been available to her as a teenager. “The allure of escaping womanhood would have been huge, “ she writes. “If I’d found community and sympathy online that I couldn’t find in my immediate environment, I believe I could have been persuaded to turn myself into the son my father had openly said he’d have preferred.”

The belief that gender identity is a phase, a choice, or something that is influenced by other people is a stereotype that minimizes the struggles of anyone who experiences gender dysphoria. Transitioning isn’t easy but Rowling seems to be saying people can choose to transition on a whim simply because they think it’s more convenient to be one gender than another.

In her essay, Rowling goes on to reveal that she is a domestic and sexual abuse survivor and those experiences have made her even more focused on biology, “out of solidarity with the huge numbers of women who have histories like mine, who’ve been slurred as bigots for having concerns around single-sex spaces.”

Referring to the debate around public washrooms in particular, Rowling claims she’s concerned for the safety of cis women and girls. “When you throw open the doors of bathrooms and changing rooms to any man who believes or feels he’s a woman—and, as I’ve said, gender confirmation certificates may now be granted without any need for surgery or hormones—then you open the door to any and all men who wish to come inside.”

Throughout her essay, Rowling talks about how easy it is for a biological man to become a woman in the eyes of the law and how potentially dangerous that could be for cis women. The fear that a large number of transgender women are just men who want to be able to use women-only spaces unchecked is a harmful stereotype that paints trans people as predators instead of just human beings who want to live their lives.

In her attempt to defend herself against the TERF label, Rowling just ended up providing more solid evidence that she is one. She works hard to disguise her views as feminism and genuine concern for the wellbeing of all women, but relies heavily on a number unsubstantiated opinions about trans people that the community has been fighting against for years. Rowling sees herself as highly educated on transgender issues but she still fails to see how her views—and her insistence on using her huge platform to promote them—are hurting transgender people."

Hi Bailey!
I do believe this load of second hand, cherry picked, out of context cobblers has been posted on here about 6 times now. It isn't any more convincing now than it was the first time.

"Here's a (paraphrased) snippet of what JKR said and what I have decided she meant by it" is not a valid argument.

ElenOfTheWays · 28/08/2026 00:07

Northernlightsss · 27/08/2026 06:46

If you're trying to objectively prove JKR isn't implying trans tropes you will need to point to exactly what she says in those quotes that invalidates the accusation & why because just saying something isn't so doesn't qualify as a legitimate argument.

Saying something IS so doesn't qualify as a legitimate argument either. Especially as many of those "quotes" are paraphrased rather than direct.

ElenOfTheWays · 28/08/2026 00:18

Northernlightsss · 27/08/2026 06:56

Yes & no. Depends on the disadvantage in the particular situation & the prevailing cultural expectations. That's why assessing proportionality/ balancing rights matters according to the particular circumstances matters.

Oh its about PROPORTIONALITY. Why didn't you say so?
Oh wait, you did on about 13 different threads under at least 5 different usernames.
And you STILL haven't explained what you mean by it despite being repeatedly asked.
Change the record man.

What we do know though is that "proportionality" will always, always favour the demands of a boundary transgressing male over mere womev.

TheKeatingFive · 28/08/2026 07:21

And of course it’s not about proportionality at all.

There is zero need to proportionally let men into women’s spaces when men have their own spaces.

BackToLurk · 28/08/2026 07:33

In relation to EA2010, proportionality will already be established (or the operator/provider will be confident that it can be demonstrated in the event of a legal challenge).

Also the answer “yes & no” (as seen from a PP) makes no sense in relation to the question “do you think women should have any sports, spaces or services away from men”. You either think they should have some or you don’t.

Exactly! Men have always had their own spaces. They had public toilets long before women did! Women had to campaign for their spaces.

Taking a part in an author's work does not imply acceptance of all that author's views. Roald Dahl has some odd ideas, no-one has ever assumed that the entire case of every film and play based on those books subscribes to them; likewise no-one assumes that everyone taking part in a Wagner opera supports fascist views.

The difference being that those two are men so their views are questioned less.
I reckon poor old Ru might have been a victim of a classic meedja tactic - ask someone a question and then present their reply as an idea they’ve shared spontaneously. I haven’t looked into it, he may have said more

Honestly these men.

Yes or no means God no, I don't think women should have any spaces, but I'm going to spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to construct a bollocks argument that you can't refute, so you shut up about it.

Fortunately for me, that poster loves the sound of their own voice so much, their posts end up so boring, I actually can't read them.

It’s a shame RG didn’t do more comedic roles. He had good timing even as a kid.

Anyway, this is also good timing. It’s significant that one of the main trio is willing to associate with the brand again, despite not financially needing to. I imagine his run will sell out.

I don't think agreeing to still be associated with an idea is in any way a concession to the creator's moral or political stance or helps perpetuate it. John Lithgow made this point recently that the work still maintains its value regardless & that's why he agreed to still be part of HP.

Just like the US constitution still maintains its moral relevance despite being written by slave owners, JKR's immoral position shouldn't matter particularly because the ideas in HP are contra to it that effectively inculcate generations of people against JKR's personal bigotry which only has a finite existence.

Edited

How is it an 'immoral position' to say women, little girls and rape survivors like me have a right to female only intimate single sex spaces?

Go on, answer that one?

What is immoral is your hateful misogynist ideology that harms the most vulnerable sex.

TheKeatingFive · 28/08/2026 11:55

So women standing up for their sex based rights is an ‘immoral position’ now.

Dear God, could these people hate women any more? I’m not sure. The naked, bigoted misogyny is on full view, isn’t it?

Interesting resort to third hand biased reporting that maliciously misrepresents what she says about the female sex needing spaces away from the male sex.

But the 'stereotypes' are about MALES, not 'trans' people. And the 'stereotypes' are based on real world evidence since civilisation began.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. […] They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people”

Many women engage in typical behaviours that distinguish women as a group from men. Some may see these as stereotypes. See where this is going?

Can't have it both ways.

It's not about stereotypes. It's about MALE vs FEMALE.

Understand yet?

Trump could make the exact same arguments about his 'Mexicans' statement. Why is this any different? And some make the exact same claims about Muslims as terrorists.

Making a show of pointing to exceptions from the norm to justify exclusion effectively smears the whole as being under suspicion. And Its in far right playbook to exploit instances as evidence of the necessity for exclusion.

The logical fallacy here is know as a faulty generalisation & it occurs particularly regarding minorities when a person draws a broad, sweeping conclusion about an entire demographic or minority group based on the actions or traits of a single individual or a tiny fringe minority AKA detransitioners.

Males are justifiably excluded from female spaces for a good reason.

Males don't need to be 'included' in every single space. Females are entitled to exclude for safety, privacy and dignity. Female spaces exist purposely to exclude the dangerous predator and oppressor sex. Our spaces don't exist to validate males.

Um, you forgot the proportionality bit…

27
(1)
A person does not contravene section 29, so far as relating to sex discrimination, by providing a service only to persons of one sex if—
(a)
any of the conditions in sub-paragraphs (2) to (7) is satisfied, and
(b)
the limited provision is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.
(2)
The condition is that only persons of that sex have need of the service.
(3)
The condition is that—
(a)
the service is also provided jointly for persons of both sexes, and
(b)
the service would be insufficiently effective were it only to be provided jointly.
(4)
The condition is that—
(a)
a joint service for persons of both sexes would be less effective, and
(b)
the extent to which the service is required by persons of each sex makes it not reasonably practicable to provide separate services.
(5)
The condition is that the service is provided at a place which is, or is part of—
(a)
a hospital, or
(b)
another establishment for persons requiring special care, supervision or attention.
(6)
The condition is that—
(a)
the service is provided for, or is likely to be used by, two or more persons at the same time, and
(b)
the circumstances are such that a person of one sex might reasonably object to the presence of a person of the opposite sex.
(7)
The condition is that—
(a)
there is likely to be physical contact between a person (A) to whom the service is provided and another person (B), and
(b)
B might reasonably object if A were not of the same sex as B.
(8)
This paragraph applies to a person exercising a public function in relation to the provision of a service as it applies to the person providing the service.

Females having safety, privacy and dignity is always a proportionate aim. It is exactly why our fore feminists fought for those spaces and exceptions.

The point is perpetuating harmful stereotypes. You know, what you people say you are supposed to be against.

It is not 'harmful stereotypes' to say the male sex is the predator and oppressor sex and women and little girls deserve safety and privacy and dignity.

The subject matter is trans men & trans women who are a minority.

The logical error being made here is that all men offend at the same rate when the data shows the substantially higher rates of offending are young, poor, straight males as opposed to older wealthier or homosexual males. In fact the research shows homosexual males violently offend at a lower rate than lesbians.

And lets not conveniently forget detransitioners where the data is particularly low.

In other words demographics matter to avoid faulty generalisations & oversimplifications.

Edited

No, the subject matter is MALE vs FEMALE.

You still haven't grasped that. Perhaps conveniently.

Ahhh so you admit not all 'tom boys' are 'temporary' given that butch women don't magically become butch at 18.

Now we are finally getting some where to understanding why JKR was trafficking in harmful stereotypes. WELL DONE!

Tom boys are females.

Anything else you have to say is irrelevant and proves you traffic in harmful stereotypes and micro diluting a sex so as to minimise it's hard won protections.
