Ipsos' annual global report looks like it's showing steady support for LGB people, and support for anti discrimination, but declining support for T people getting everything they want whenever they want.

I then added up this scores to see who was having the biggest gap in thinking. This gives you an idea about the range of diversity of opinion and thoughts within a country. The higher you are, the more you support protections for trans people but also think 'its a bit more complicated' than simply replacing sex with gender.

Yes the UK head the list. But Sweden really aren't far behind us in thinking.

The least diversity in thought and the country most happy with merely replacing sex with gender is hmm... Turkiye.

What's fascinating is how countries with the most gendered societies compare with the ones which have the least rigid gendered roles in society.

Its almost as if the countries with the least gendered roles have the greatest nuance factor going on. And its definitely not a thing that only exists in the UK.

Its almost as if compliance with replacing sex with gender is directly related to the importance of men's rights / absence of the importance of women's rights.

Who'd thunk?

Can someone show this survey to Owen Jones the next time he starts banging on about that ILGA Rainbow Map. Thinking that single sex spaces and sports are important and that children shouldn't be given puberty blockers, doesn't mean that people think trans people should be discriminated against.

Also, will TRAs ever accept that they have lost on sport?

Is sport a priority for basement dwelling computer nerds and anime fans who hate their bodies? (Genuine question)

Its only of interest to a certain degree to this group and its more about it being a tool for general legitimacy.

The reason we have been dubbed Terf Island is over where the UK differs significantly on opinion about access to single sex spaces. Its the only area where we stand out as having a particularly nuanced conversation compared to other countries - and its not as if this conversation is none existent in other places.

This opens up other questions about why this particular conversation is the one that's causing the drama. The UK actually is scoring 74% in favour of support for protections for transpeople. Thats just ONE PERCENT less than Ireland and EXACTLY THE SAME as Australia.

This idea that the UK is dangerous for trans people is just not consistent with this polling. If we go on following TRA doctrine Turkiye scores well and thats just nuts when you look at opposition to transrights there.

Turkiye has by far the highest opposition to protections.

The UK on the other hand has one of the lowest levels of opposition to protections. As does Sweden and France.

Given the screams of 'genocide' and the UK not being safe for trans people this data simply doesn't match the reality of public opinion.

I would suggest the UK has a very supportive live and let live attitude overall but a 'don't take the fucking piss out of me and treat me like a bloody gullible fool' cavet to that.

Probably driven by the antics of the batshit activists themselves.

You have to remember that in Transwonderland words mean different things. In Transwonderland genocide no more means ‘deliberate mass-murder of an ethnic group’, than woman means ‘adult female human’.

I believe the Thai notion of transwomen is very different to ours. The ladyboys are a big part of their culture, and when I was there the people I spoke to about how 'our' trans behaved were pretty shocked. It's a pretty small sample though tbh, I was on holiday so wasn't interrogating the locals!

I remember reading before that the majority of them are attracted to other men. Basically they are effeminate gay men, which many women don't perceive to have the same threat level as other men.
