Mmmnotsure · 12/05/2026 13:00

Lorna Young is taking her former employer, Manchester City Council, to Employment Tribunal. The case began today. It is being live tweeted by Tribunal Tweets https://x.com/tribunaltweets
and coverage is also available on their Substack
https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/lorna-young-vs-manchester-city-council

Lorna Young was Equality Team Manager at MCC. She was dismissed, among other grounds, for her social media activity.

Lorna Young is gender critical and Catholic, and opposes surrogacy. She is claiming unfair dismissal, and discrimination and harassment because of religion or belief, and disability.

Below is from a WRN tweet

Later this witness tells us that she thinks trans-age belief is protected under the Equality Act! Unfortunately due to sound issues
@tribunaltweets
missed this - but we didn’t - we heard her answer Yes to the question ‘Are trans-age people protected under the Equality Act 2010’ even after Nathan Roberts, barrister for Lorna Young pointed out it means adults could identify children. Absolutely shocking that this senior member of staff at
@ManCityCouncil
has such a poor understanding of Equality law she is investigating someone else about.

Lorna Young’s manager from 2023, Sharmila Kar didn’t think Stephen Whittle’s presentation at a Council LGBTQi Network event she organised linked gender critical views with transphobia.

The title of the presentation was ‘The Triumph of Organised Transphobia. Exploring the political, legal and social impact of the Supreme Court Ruling in For Women Scotland’.

Just re-reading as there’s so much I missed form first few days.

First day of Lorna’s evidence.

As Inclusion work she is addressing an issue of men being house in women’s refuges (now clearly not in line with the law).

LY we had a n issue w refuges and having TW in them. It was a good round up of views that existed.
AM In para 20 u say you added factual reports about T issues in Manchester

LY This was created by Stephen Whittle about barriers. Was a Manch commissioned report
AM Do you have the report? I cant find it or the email of 24 March. Let's look at p662 of bundle 1. On its face is the experiences of T ppl in the city - incl crossdressers, transsexuals anfd those of no GI. Of ppl in Machester

This lad Stephen Whittle has a lot to say. Except Stephen is a biological female and famous in circles that want to deny women their basic rights.

Stephen Whittle’s wiki is an interesting read. Apparently she is a male lesbian who at the age of near 50 decided to have a fake phallus constructed out of arm skin and have it publicized on TV.

She and her partner had kids and she went to the European Court to have her children gaslight into having her named as their biological father. Didn’t work so she adopted them as legal father later.

She was a lecturer in law and involved in WPATH and Press for Change so focused on blurring the legal lines to create the collective delusion that having a gender identity meant changing one’s biological sex.

This is the cause celebre of Manchester City Council. A geriatric law lecturer who went to EU Court to lie to their children about their birth information and to say a woman could be their father. A woman who decided to get a big swinging dick in her late 40s.

She is still a lecturer in equalities law. Wonder how she values Lorna’s rights to be protected under the law.

Helpfully his hate speech against women who have the protected belief in sex realism has been collated by this blog:

Does it worry anyone else that in pretty big organisations like NHS Fife or Manchester City Council, the people whose job it is to know the law don't actually know the law? All these tribunals have come out with pretty spectacular examples of people who don't even understand the basics of the Equality Act.

They’ve been ‘trained’ by organisations with no legal training who are just trans activists.

It’s the orgs fault of course. LS v NHS England was clear in saying paying those advisors doesn’t stop you following the law.

There is no where else in law where the fight has been so hard to benefit from legal rights that have been in place for our entire lifetimes

Thank you @JaneDoeKeepsReceipts

I am utterly speechless at some of the updates

HappilyHarriet · 19/05/2026 07:38

Huge thanks to @JaneDoeKeepsReceiptsfor the updates, and of course Lorna for having the strength to bring this into the open.
I read on another thread that Andy Burnham
is TWAW and anti FWS. I’d be interested to know the source of that info, but having read the responses of Man City council’s employees I’m not surprised at his position, given the water he’s swimming in.

@JaneDoeKeepsReceipts- you really do keep the receipts, thank you for that!
So those witnesses yesterday assumed their behaviour was ok and would win them approval from above. That explains a lot.
Between your links and the posts on Alistair Campbell I’m seeing how enmeshed Labour is with all this.

poodlemum01 · 19/05/2026 08:49

slightly off topic, but i'd love to see actual political parties taken to ET by GC employees who work for them. I believe the green party were iirc but I'd especially love to see the SNP and Labour in court defending their position.

youandyourelk · 19/05/2026 08:51

Only just catching up with this case as not had the temporal resources to follow this in any detail. What a shit show. In a field of fucked up EDI tribunals this one must surely rank as number 1. Wish I had the time to dial in but alas will have to rely on you lovely people and Tribunal Tweets this time.

For those interested in remote access, I've been advised:

  • Contact the Tribunal at [email protected].
  • Include Lorna Young v MCC in the subject & body
  • "Request to observe remotely” in the subject heading to request a remote link.

You can get easy access through out the day for any period of time.

Email to get a remote link. Trial due to run to Friday but there was discussion of it slipping into September.

Disclosure and massive lack of disclosure is a massive issue in this trial. Judge is clearly treating it as a priority.

Forecastsayssunbutthereisnosun · 19/05/2026 09:31

I know I shouldn't really be shocked at this stage but I still am by the "trans age" part. The stupidity of it is just astounding.

"*NR: Example 4 on your IX report. Actual tweet is p1772. What does "trans-age" mean?
SN: Ppl that feel a different age inside
NR: Such as adults who ID as children?
SN: Yes
NR: You seriously say C disagreeing with that is gross misconduct?
SN: As I've said, it's the sum of it all
NR: This is not "shocking", is it?
SN: It cd be to those ppl?
NR: That is who the Council is protecting?
NR: Are 'trans-age' ppl protected under the EA2010?
[I don't think SN answers]

A recap for those just joining:

  • Lorna has an anonymous account called GalawyGirl.
  • She likes some sex realist content including a few tweets by Julie Bindle and JKR. The sheer horror!
  • Self righteous colleagues recall some reference to the account way back and go on a witch hunt. The connect the dots via a picture of Trevi fountain where Lorna went to get comfort in her faith after her father died.
  • Said colleagues run a whatsapp group to talk about Lorna.
  • Oh dear all phones are lost so the actual whatsapp group can't be disclosed.
  • They raise concerns with Lorna's seniors and the head of Council.
  • During Lorna's time at the Council trans men are men & trans women are women and trans rights are human rights adopted as a belief from a Council
  • These likes on tweets were so shocking the investigating officer couldn't bnring themselves to email them to Lorna. Except they'd been emailed from an employee to another employee to HR to the investigatinng officer and put on a shared drive and we transfer and generally spread willy nilly. Dog whistle anyone?
  • No disclosure in parts
  • Late disclosure in parts
  • Incomplete disclosure
  • HR people giving advice left right and centre but nothing written down
  • Someone compromised put in as investigating officer
  • A senior manager in thrall to the younger employees and willing to do anything to please
  • Stonewall and Mermaids
  • A totally captured grey robot type woman who isn't employed by MCC managed Lorna. She tran's into a postbox and sends a load of letters but doesn't know what she signed or what it meant.
  • She was investigated for inappropriate gender critical abusive tweets but what a suprise she was cleared. But as shes employed by an NHS body that white wash can't be disclopsed.

Well done Lorna. Don't let them grind you down!

This is the inevitable consequence of the sheer stupidty of this ideology.

If you can be trans-sex then you can be trans every other protected characteristic.

You can be trans-Jewish, trans-Christian, trans-Muslim, trans-age, trans-disability, trans-pregnant etc etc.

If they have to believe you can change your sex then why not other things that are easier to mask?

Yes I was online at that stage. It was a yes.

She was clearly resentful to be there and presented as quite a thick person.

It wasn't what the tweets said she found horrific, just that they were many and some had swear words. Come on love.

Ms Kar was a piece of work. Her grey controlled demour belied a quiet rage for the proceedings and Lorna's view (probably Lorna herself). She did a lot of personal damage but to distance herself she called herself a postbox so manhy tumes.

Cheaper just to have a forwarded email account and save everyone her costs of employment.

  • Stonewall and Mermaids

It seems like members of EDI staff within these organizations, following the advice of Stonewall et.al., build themselves a nice echo chamber, where things like trans-age protections make complete sense.

Court cases like this tear open the echo chamber and expose the occupants to fact and reason. Members of staff are hung out to dry, trying to 'style out' their actions in court.

I can't remember a case where Stonewall, who seem instrumental in building the echo chamber, have ever been called upon to explain their actions
