Lorna Young is taking her former employer, Manchester City Council, to Employment Tribunal. The case began today. It is being live tweeted by Tribunal Tweets https://x.com/tribunaltweets
and coverage is also available on their Substack
https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/lorna-young-vs-manchester-city-council

Lorna Young was Equality Team Manager at MCC. She was dismissed, among other grounds, for her social media activity.

Lorna Young is gender critical and Catholic, and opposes surrogacy. She is claiming unfair dismissal, and discrimination and harassment because of religion or belief, and disability.

It does me too especially as the current witness works for a mental health organisation.

Maybe shes just a postbox to contain their thoughts and letters.

Literal containment for people with mental health challenges.

Post it in my postbox and we'll keep it in the dark.

I know a few of the people mentioned and this is exactly what they and the working environment are like, you are bang on the money. Google the Big Boss mentioned here, James Binks and his pal Paul Marshall to get some idea of who exactly ran the circus in which this performance took place

This James Binks and Paul Marshall? https://manchestermill.co.uk/james-binks-has-resigned-as-ceo-of-rochdale-council/

James Binks has resigned as CEO of Rochdale Council

‘They sat on the report… I don’t trust them to deal with these issues going forward’

Everyone does the bananarama defence

Except they don't know what was underlying offensive and what it was about the manner it was expressed that was offensive.

You can't like tweets more kindly. Unless there is a like and now a new be kind button provided by Elon Musk solely to be deployed in trans issues.

They also seemed to have learnt to say that GC views are not offensive, or whatever, but despite being able to list the many ways in which one cannot express them they can't ever say how one can, apart from being kind, but it seems that everyone who does express GC views is not kind.
Here we go slithering round the mulberry bush, again and again and again.
Do these people live their lives permanently wrapped in great big puffy clouds of cotton wool?

They've been trying to pull this one since at least the time of Allison Bailey's case: "We accept you can legally have these views, but you can't express them in a way that upsets anyone."

Of course, expressing them in any way whatsoever is seen as upsetting by some, so it becomes the de facto position that you can't actually express the views at all ever, in any manner or context.

Therefore it's heads we win, tails you lose - they present themselves as compliant with the law while ALSO silencing the nasty TERFs.

Sorry, what does SORS mean?

Sorry, what does SORS mean?

It should be SOSR. Some other substantial reason.

A SOSR Dismissal Process is one way of getting rid of somebody.

FFS!! What is wrong with these people?!?! Driving a woman to suicide because she liked a few tweets?!?! This has to stop.

Cailin66 · 18/05/2026 18:23

One question if I may. Did Lorna post any tweets? Or did she just like tweets? This surely can not just be about liking some tweets?

It's not quite clear to me but I think she liked some tweets which is illegal in the Equality Act and someone said something or other that wasn't included in any disclosure but someone else is sure that something was said at some point even if there is no email trail because some people only use their inbox as a postbox.

If it wasn't so horrendous it would be hilarious.

EmpressDomesticatednottamed · 18/05/2026 18:42

I must admit I am being amused by the one identifying as a postbox.

But, women who won't subjugate themselves to the Gender God aren't fully-human,really, so you can kind of see their point in completely ruining her career and nearly her life, can't you? I mean, it's not like she counts for anything anyway, in the wider Be Kind World Order. She's just In The Way.

ps. I think some of these "people" in charge really don't ever think that their actions have real-world consequences. Comes from living in a Magic Bubble Land.

She had a Twitter account under a random name (GalwayGirl, I believe). Other people who worked with her seem to have been able to identify her from a process of jigsaw identification.

This is an example of why you should always be aware of what you are posting on social media.

Nope this one plumbs the depths.

An anonymous account liking some gender critical material.

Witch hunt, dog whistle accusations, investigating officers who were witnesses, non disclosure, 100s of docs data dumped, sanctimonious DEI lead who does what ever they want because you know anything that isn’t sex realist goes.

They drove an employee of decades experience to the brink of suicide.

Over a few likes of EA 2010 protected views and confirmed as always have been aligned with the law by the Supreme Court.

And after all that not one can point to what actually Lorna did that was wrong.

Later this witness tells us that she thinks trans-age belief is protected under the Equality Act! Unfortunately due to sound issues
@tribunaltweets
missed this - but we didn’t - we heard her answer Yes to the question ‘Are trans-age people protected under the Equality Act 2010’ even after Nathan Roberts, barrister for Lorna Young pointed out it means adults could identify children. Absolutely shocking that this senior member of staff at
@ManCityCouncil
has such a poor understanding of Equality law she is investigating someone else about.

Lorna Young’s manager from 2023, Sharmila Kar didn’t think Stephen Whittle’s presentation at a Council LGBTQi Network event she organised linked gender critical views with transphobia.

The title of the presentation was ‘The Triumph of Organised Transphobia. Exploring the political, legal and social impact of the Supreme Court Ruling in For Women Scotland’.

SternJoyousBeev2 · 19/05/2026 00:09

Finally caught up!

Thank you @JaneDoeKeepsReceipts for posting from TT. I had previously struggled to read Lorna’s testimony from the TT Substack but had been following TT live on X last week for the MCC witnesses. So I’ve spent most of today catching up with the first couple of days posts. Nothing prepared me (not even last weeks fuckwits) for the batshittery of SN and SK.

SN’s responses about trans-age and the EA 2010 was probably the most shocked I have been whilst following the 2025/26 ETs.

Another thank you to @JaneDoeKeepsReceipts for the info to apply to observe remotely which I have done. I am thankful that I wasn’t listening live today as I would have died from second hand embarrassment.

Nathan R’s cross examination has been brilliant.

Evening all, happy to share when possible. I certainly felt that it was worth bringing to the fore here.

Many of us don’t encounter enforced undressing in corporate jobs - but in this case the shocking blinkered group think and outright hounding of gender critical women could happen to any of us.

If you can join remotely for any of the week at all please do to show your support for Lorna Young & so that employers know we are all watching.

None of this is possible without Tribunal Tweets. Bravo to their citizen journalists & bringing justice to the fore. 🙏 Please send money their way where you can.

NR: AP replies, C knows the tweets context best?
SK: Yes
NR: p1659 - Ms [HR person] finally sent the tweets?
SK: Yes

NR 1698 - C writes to you re an OH referral, says she wants to consider RtW. MCC refused OH referral before the SOSR?
SK: Pretty sure that's right.

NR: Even though the C's absence was part of the SOSR meeting?
SK: Don't know.
NR: You wrote the letter.
SK: Just the postbox
NR: You don't know whose decision?
SK: I can't remember, I asked for advice here.

A senior EDI lead and a trustee for a mental health charity refuses someone an occupational health assessment until they have a SOSR meeting* where they plan to sack them.

SOSR - SOSR stands for Some Other Substantial Reason.

Knowing this person attempted suicide due to bullying and isolation from her entire team after linking some social media posts via an anonymous account.

And her absence formed part of the reason to get rid of her.

They wanted her to like tweets in a kinder way - but couldn’t provide a basic level of care with her health.

Oh and that exemplary EDI leader who signed off on all these letters - self identities as a postbox. 📮

Falsifying documents is a thing. If you don’t know what the letters say or don’t know the impact of what they say don’t attach your name to the letter and issue it from your mailbox.
