I'm on record as have a degree of ... maybe 'sympathy' is too strong a word - for people with DSDs who genuinely do not know about their true sex until late in life.
I accept that there are circumstances in which a baby who does not look like a boy is considered to be a girl, and is brought up accordingly.
When it is revealed, whether naturally at puberty, or medically through chromosomal testing, I believe that young person deserves loving support to face and accept the shock of the truth about their biological sex.
In the current infamous cases in women's sports, the young people appear to have been pushed to continue IDing as female, because there's fame and fortune for their 'handlers' in having them take part in competitions where they have an inbuilt advantage.
However, and irrationally I admit, I find it hard to muster a lot of sympathy for Caster Semenya, who plays the cool dude celeb with a bit too much relish for my liking, and seems to be fully aware that we know that he knows that we know that he knows because everybody knows but he's getting away with it bigtime so the joke is on us...
The only thing I feel 'threatened' by is the assault on reality and scientific fact. Living in a post-factual world is disturbing; but it's OK I'm not panicky, Uglydumpling, I reckon common sense and reality will prevail. Eventually. Preferably ASAP
