Are things moving in the right direction?

With the announcement of the Olympics ban, the WI announcement, the Darlington nurses etc things may be going in the right direction...

But then we have the Sandie Peggie outcome yet to be fully sorted, the Leonardo case, the Hampstead pools and the bloody Green party...

Do people things might be moving in the direction of common sense?

Sometimes I feel a glimmer...

Yes. The wheels are coming off the clown car and about time.

lcakethereforeIam · 27/03/2026 17:47

I hope so but I try to manage my expectations too.

Shedmistress · 27/03/2026 17:47

All over bar the fat bloke who says he is a lady singing.

Cannot wait for this shit to be done and dusted.

Exactly the same for me. That said I really hope there is also an acknowledgement at some point that women didn’t do this to themselves. It was all spearheaded by men - however they identify - trying to erode women’s rights. I honestly think it’s another element of the manosphere frankly. Just in a dress.

We have campaigned and are making progress. It is frustrating at times, but when we see progress such as the IOC announcement, it helps.

We still have a long way to go.

Bringemout · 27/03/2026 17:50

Yes, things that were “unsayable” 4 years now are now being said. I think there are a lot of people who never said much about it but secretly feel a bit relieved. Once you can say “thats a man” and not get hounded and blacklisted for it then everything else os just about dismantling the nonsense that taken root in our institutions.

I’m relieved too, it did demonstrate though how small lobby groups can create institutional capture and that concerns me immensely. The whole gingerbread bollocks was quite clearly insane and logically flawed but it was transmitted across our society rapidly and without question. Scary, extremely scary.

Pleasealexa · 27/03/2026 17:50

Yes BUT s coalition at the next election of Greens, Lib Dems and Labour will endanger the progress. I fear this because a great many Labour MPs are still enthralled with "the dolls".

Worse case is a coalition could change the law to recognise Gender, which would make the Supreme Court ruling redundant.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 27/03/2026 17:51

it is and isn't

despite the SC ruling being very clear and the multiple legal wins, most public bodies including local councils and the NHS remain firmly in denial presided over by a super captured civil service. The charity sector and the arts also remain captured as does much of the mainstream media along with academia and many schools

It'll take years to root out this pernicious ideology

Manchesteruser · 27/03/2026 17:54

Yeah, me too. I can't believe it sometimes.

The final straw is biological men claiming to be lesbians, to suffer from FGM and punching women in the boxing ring.

I'm old (50s)! And can't believe Germaine Greer has been 'cancelled' and women can't even claim to be women but are bloody 'cis women. (I've swum all my life, I'm slow now but used to be very good but never could have competed with men. People like Lia Thomas made my blood boil.)

The great thing about Germaine Greer is that she won’t allow herself to be cancelled! And she’ll say it very loud too!

PermanentTemporary · 27/03/2026 18:42

For me they’ve pretty much arrived. With the Forstater ruling, the Cass Report, the Supreme Court ruling and the IOC decision, everything I was most concerned about has been resolved. From my point of view it can be time to push back a bit.

I am in tree life a gardener weeds will just grow back if you font get the whole tap root out.

nettle roots and brambles are the hardest to eradicate but we are collectively pulling the buggers out one by bloody one.

On a guiding Facebook group (unofficial leaders only) - posts in favour of banning trans girls/ women are not only being posted, but allowed to stand. Despite pushback from the usual suspects.

First time I’ve seen this in years.

The comments under articles in the Times and Telegraph are even more clear than they are on here (memories of deletions and bans).

There's a massive change happening and it revolves around finally using accurate language and the bullies discovering that they're being called out and are losing so much of their power.
They're still trying, hence the rage and fury but now we can speak, the end is nigh.

Shedmistress · 27/03/2026 20:39

I must admit I've never seen so many 'common sense is back' posts than in the last week.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 27/03/2026 20:44

I'm encouraged but I might get more excited when the main stream media drop the 'trans' language and call a man a man when they're reporting on a pretendian who has committed rape or murder.

Hedgehogforshort · 27/03/2026 20:49

Jeremy Vine asked the question about “banning transwomen” from womens sport, today had a few annoying idiots on his show.

he put up some rather telling pictures of some of these people he referred to as her.

I had a feeling he was stirring it, it was surprising.

all the callers were in support of the exclusion.

OdeToTheNorthWestWind · 27/03/2026 20:51

It's like watching a painfully slow game of Jenga. Bit by bit the structure is weakening and at some point the whole edifice will come tumbling down.

Edited for spelling

Yes excellent work from so many women but a coalition could undo it all.

Hedgehogforshort · 27/03/2026 21:19

I am not worrying about that unless or until it happens.

We have campaigned and are making progress. It is frustrating at times, but when we see progress such as the IOC announcement, it helps.

We still have a long way to go.

A long, long time ago, way before the FairPlayforWomen street campaign, I remember having a conversation with Nic Williams. We agreed that it would likely be a decade before we saw any meaningful change and another decade to root it out properly. The first part has, by and large been achieved. The second part I now think will take even longer. Not being pessimistic, but accepting of the time all of this takes.
Thanks to the commitment and persistence of women in the UK, we are getting there and we will win. It will need ongoing vigilance and action for the foreseeable future across the generations. I am, however, optimistic when I see the number of young women coming on board and speaking out loud and clear.
