Women’s Rights Network imploding

NameChangedWren · 02/02/2026 18:21

WTF is going on? There are letters circulating with members alleging bullying, and anyone who asks a question is suspended and comments deleted. The leader calling everyone to urgent meetings with bizarre messaging: ‘there is no letter, and if there is it’s full of lies, and you can’t see the letter just trust us, and ooh look, something shiny!’ Should I cut my losses, cancel my standing order and just follow Let Women Speak?

Before you all clutch your pearls and faint dramatically onto the fainting couch, let's remember one inconvenient truth: WRN has approximately zero respect for its own members. They'll boot you out and slam the door faster than you can say "loyal service," whether you're a tireless ground-level campaigner or a director who's given years of dedicated work.

We all know the sacred rule: sharing screenshots outside the group is an express ticket to the gulag. So here I go, bravely committing the unforgivable. Are they planning to yeet every single woman from the Scotland group and make them grovel for readmission? Will they cheerfully nuke the very communication channels connecting them to the women they clearly value so little, yet who do so much of the actual work? Or, wild plot twist, might they actually address the concerns, offer a genuine apology, and let women speak without reaching for the mute button? More transparency, perhaps? Or will we just get steam pouring from ears, more deflections, and the usual "truth"? Or are they, poor lambs, simply the latest victims of the infamous Sandie Peggie Treatment?

Now, the Alloa Women's Festival saga is serving fresh drama. There's conflicting intel on whether WRN nobly withdrew themselves (perhaps dreading awkward questions or a spot of protest) or whether the organisers gave them the old heave-ho.

For those still lacking imagination, or who haven't yet received their own personal Hail Mary exit package and therefore refuse to believe it happens, here's their own post as Exhibit A.

  • If *WRN* pulled out voluntarily (stage fright? Fear of being asked difficult questions?), then claiming otherwise to their loyal members starts to look an awful lot like… lying. Women deserve better than that. They have every right to know the facts and perhaps redirect their precious time, energy and efforts toward women’s groups that actually value and include them.
  • If the festival organisers cancelled them, fair play, WRN is currently imploding in spectacular fashion and treats women appallingly. Why on earth would any self-respecting festival platform that kind of chaos? But then the organisers saying "we didn't cancel them" would be… also not entirely truthful.

So which is it, ladies? Mutually assured deception? A secret third thing? Or is this simply the opening act of WRN's long-awaited grand finale?

Place your bets: is this the beginning of the end for WRN? 🍿

The reference to Sandie Peggie is baffling! It's the sort of hallucination we have come to expect from AI, not Scottish women.

Are they on drugs??

Oh look, classic DARVO in full swing – textbook abuser playbook, but for a women's rights group. Let's break it down, shall we?

  • Deny: "I absolutely hadn't seen it" (until magically you did), then downgrade the explicit parallel in the announcements chat to "not compared the way you wrote it" and call the whole thing an "extraordinary fairytale." The post linked their Alloa no-rebuttal experience to Sandie Peggie's no-fair-process nightmare. It was a comparison. It happened. Denying/rewriting it doesn't make it vanish.
  • Attack: Cue the personal smears – "vitriolic women" (me included, apparently – aw, thanks for the spotlight), "hurty feelings," "beyond petty," wasting energy on "attacking women who are actually achieving results." Because questioning inconsistencies and gaslighting is now an assault on the sisterhood. Nice deflection.
  • Reverse Victim and Offender: Flip the script so they're the poor persecuted heroes doing FOIs and holding power accountable, while critics are the nasty villains stirring up ancient drama and causing "innocent women" to suffer ejections. "Get over it and move on" – said the side that keeps dragging the exodus into every reply to shut down scrutiny.
Spot on DARVO: Deny the problem, attack the messenger, reverse roles so they're the real victims. Textbook manipulation to dodge accountability. So, are they actually going to address any of the concerns raised here? Like:
  • Why pretend internal announcements don't exist when members (supposedly) see them?
  • Why draw even a limited parallel to Sandie Peggie's treatment, then memory-hole it?
  • And most pressingly: why are donations and fees for WRN Scotland being requested/solicited straight into a director's personal bank account? (As alleged in multiple posts here and screenshots floating around – not exactly screaming financial transparency for an org fighting for women's rights.)
If the fight is truly about protecting women and girls, start with basic openness about money and stop the DARVO dance when legit questions get asked. Gaslighting your own side isn't a good look – it just breeds more distrust. Ball's in your court. Address the points or keep proving the pattern. 😏

I hate the app it was on - I only use the sections relevant to me.
I'm not the one lying, and if anything that screenshot - and what a breach of trust, by the way - proves it. It's not quite the same as the story you told, is it?
It absolutely sums up why WRN felt the need to remove the toxicity of you and your ilk.

Excellent. I do love the way you're all outing yourselves. You know your writing styles are such a giveaway, right?

Could you be any more passive aggressively clichéd🙄?
I absolutely hadn't seen it, hence why I asked. I then looked, read it and responded to the extraordinary fairytale that you wound round about it.
Regarding the Scottish exodus, you know perfectly well that the actions of a very small amount of vitriolic women (and I include you in this) created a situation that forced ejection from WRN on a lot of other entirely innocent women. But I fully understand that you can't admit that.
Apart from anything else, it was 10 months ago. So get over it and move on.
This women's rights fight is about protecting women and girls from men. I have no idea why you waste so much energy attacking women who are actually achieving results. It's beyond petty.

You admit that you “ejected a lot of entirely innocent women”, then call other women vitriolic and petty? This is DARVO of the highest order

I didn't eject anyone. Where on earth did I say that?
Honestly, do you lot ever read what's written? I'm just an ordinary WRN member. No responsibility other than being sick to the back teeth of reading all this bull and I know the story and it's not the one being spread by a few vitriolic women, who won't admit their responsibility to the innocent women caught in the crossfire.

ThreeWordHarpy · 02/03/2026 17:38

Gosh, we do seem to have several real life examples of the problem on this thread.

Disclaimer: not and never have been a member of WRN although I did try to contact my local group a while back but never heard back. Sounds like a lucky escape. I have been deeply involved in volunteer organisations though at both grassroots and national level, so am well aware of the types of personalities and dynamics that can occur. My sympathies are with the banished members and I hope to see a “Women of Bucks” group emerge and have friendly working relations with the Wessex and Sussex lot.

I might equally ask, having an inquiring mind, why someone who is just an ordinary WRN member, is so incredibly invested in defending WRN Scotland, pushing a narrative of poor beleaguered WRNS, being horribly treated by the vitriolic yet innocent women they just HAD to expel because of awful, terrible behaviour, like showing screenshots evidencing that you’re lying. I think @ThimbleThief might have got it right, are you on glue?

Why is it any concern of yours?
Or are you just exercising your toxicity?
Posting screenshots from private groups onto a forum like Mumsnet is pretty piss poor, don't you think? And if it's your screenshot, meaning you are still in the WRN group, why are you in the WRN group? If it's not your screenshot, and you are sharing to try and cast shade on WRN, then rest assured, most people with a degree of integrity will see both actions for what they are. Untrustworthy and malicious.

You are resorting to ridiculous insults. We all know what that says for your (lack of) argument.
Why am I invested in defending them? Because I'm impressed at the effort they go to to get facts and figures, to meet with people who can effect change and to engage with a government that is desperately trying to wriggle out of it's commitments.
What are you doing on a similar scale?

ThreeWordHarpy · 02/03/2026 17:47

This is all very well, but isn’t it a distraction from the point of whether WRN voluntarily withdrew from speaking, or whether the festival organisers asked WRN to withdraw? Hmm?

Me? I’m in an independent group that does all of that, whilst managing not to create a leadership tier that has to be treated like gods, and not to expel dozens of innocent women on the regular.
As it happens we’ve also never felt the need to have a ‘no screenshots’ rule in my group. We don’t tell lies, you see, so no one has to demonstrate the truth.

"Just an ordinary member" who thinks she knows who we all are from our writing styles.

😂

I am seriously wondering if some of these lunatics coming onto this thread to berate us are actually WRN high-ups or if they are undercover TRA agitators posing as a WRN high-ups.

Seriously - why does it matter? There are others who were supposed to be there but are no longer going. I don't see any with hunts against those people. However, if you are so concerned, why not ask WRN directly? Or the Alloa organises, instead of speculating with glee on here?

I'm away to have a life this evening. Happy festering.

Sadly I think this one really is so dim she thinks shouting “vitriol!” will persuade everyone she’s as hard done by as Sandie Peggie, and that she can guess who multiple women on Mumsnet are from our turn of phrase. I suppose that’s what happens when you throw out all the women with any intelligence.

Seriously – why does it matter? Oh, I don't know, maybe because when a women's rights group draws parallels between their own "cancellation" and Sandie Peggie's actual harassment nightmare (even if just the no-rebuttal bit), then acts like it never happened... people notice. And when the same group has members mysteriously vanishing or getting ejected, yet the remaining choir sings "nothing to see here," it raises an eyebrow or twelve.
But sure, no "hunts" against the others who bailed – probably because they didn't pop up on Mumsnet playing the "I hadn't seen it... oh wait, now I have and it's a fairytale" game while gaslighting the entire thread. Selective concern is adorable.
Why not ask WRN directly? Or the Alloa organisers? Solid advice... coming from someone who's spent pages here defending them without once addressing the actual points raised (the parallel exists, the post was in announcements chat, donations allegedly funneled to a director's personal account). Pot, kettle, speculation with glee much?
We're all thrilled you're off to "have a life" this evening – do enjoy. Some of us prefer not to fester in denial, but each to their own.
And btw, the martyr-victim-flip routine is wearing thin. We see you, RAG. The typing style, the deflection playbook, the sudden "I'm away" exits when pressed... it's giving very familiar vibes. If it's not you, great – but the DARVO energy is unmistakable. 😏
Happy non-festering! Don't let the door hit you on the way to that life. x

FairIsFairIsFair · 02/03/2026 18:03

Heminist or is it Himinist?

Why are you defending WRN so vehemently when you claim to not know about what’s been going on with their treatment of women? I smell a rat.

My post is actually not malicious, it’s aim is to help women chose a better women’s rights group to support, and expose lies from a group of women exercising power over other women. They still have not apologised for their behaviour. Don’t you find that concerning? Or are you them? If you are, please just answer the questions: did WRN jump from Alloa and are lying, or were they pushed and victims of cancellation?

WRN SCOTLAND ANNOUNCEMENTS

WRN SCOTLAND JUMPS THE SHARK

You may be aware that Mary was on the programme for the Alloa Women's Festival on Saturday 7th March. We have posted an announcement on the Alloa group chat to update members attending on developments today and thought it would also be helpful to update our wider membership.

Mary had been invited to present an update on the WRNS sexual assaults in hospitals report. Mary has today been informed by the organisers that her presence has been cancelled.

This appears to be a result of allegations from women who have engaged in a year-long campaign of accusations and harassment of some WRNS Coordinators.

No opportunity was given to present a rebuttal of the accusations, actions sadly reminiscent of what happened to Sandie Peggie.

No WRNS members will be presenting at Alloa and Coordinators will not be attending. Members will make their own decisions about attending and we wish everyone who does attend an enjoyable day.
